my room

Sun opens its eyes direct to my window ,and direct to our eyes, need ideas abut curtain that hv diffrent stuff or colour.
My furniture is traditional means polish one ,wood dark brown color and walls hv white colour.
Husband sayng he wanna put curtain like chikh no blind a traditional desi one.
But i am sayng it is gud to put it frm outside.inner side curtain is best. Wt u say???

Re: my room

I am not sure what you mean by the chikh?

But usually if you put a dark colored, thick material curtain , that should sort the issue out ..

Our bedroom faces the sun too early in the morning , we have got off white blinds and they do fine for us ..

Re: my room

the word is **CHIQ **… it’s a curtain made from thin flat bamboo sticks tied together by strings in a horizontal fashion. it can be rolled up or down…it has slits between two strips of bamboo so i don’t understand how this will give more protection from sun…the sun will still filter through slits between bamboo sticks.

this western chiq is much better wither smaller gaps but the ones we used in India have wider slits.

Re: my room

Yah right , was abut this type , but this look outside the room. Like i hv small trace opposite of window and it put it thre.
Wt stuff i use, velvet or wt, i am thnkng light ho wash krnay aur dalnay main easy ho.
Aur summer main bhi helpful warm up na kare, does blinds look gud or help us to keep room cool.

Re: my room

Chiqs are so nice and now they come in so many designs as well in Pakistan (if OP is in Pakistan) if chiqs are to OPs liking
For blocking light, ask the maker to put a thick cloth behind the chiq, they can do that.

Re: my room

I am assuming the Chiqs are weighty? due to all the bamboo used on them .. if thats the case then isnt it a hassle to roll it up and down every day? :konfused:

why not have dark wooden blinds instead and you can have a light weight curtain on top .. that way when the sun’s too bright you can easily close the blinds and when you are want the room bright you can open them and just pull the lighter curtains so that gives you the bright room look as well ?

Re: my room

they are put in from inside the room…there are wide varieties of chiqs available in the west which are from basic to all the way outright exotic…it could cost you $20-$30 to all the way upto $200-$300 dollars depending on the quality.

i think regular thick fabric curtains will keep the sun out…fabric curtains are easier to maintain…easier to wash.

Re: my room

nah, not really…there are a wide variety of materials available to make chiqs…some are plastic that looks like bamboo…btw, these bamboo sticks are very thin and flat strips of bamboos. it’s quite light-weight. u pull up N down with the help of strings so it’s not that heavy or difficult to do that.

Re: my room

Oh ok .. thanks KKF ..

Re: my room

I’m sorry but I don’t like this chik. Looks off.
