my rings

i cant wear them anymore :frowning:

my fingers have become so swollen that ive had to take two rings off… im still wearing my engagement and weddings rings, only because i cant pull them off…

does the swelling go away after giving birth? i do hope so…

Re: my rings

Ttry using cream to get the rings off. If you do get them off, wear them on a chain around your neck.

I'm sure the swelling does go down after birth. Verify that with the gup mommies. :)

BTW, when are you due?

Re: my rings

yeah... i was thinking of taking them off but for some reason im having difficulty convincing myself...

due in about 7 or so weeks Inshallah..

Re: my rings

I took mine off and wore them on a necklace till I went in to the hospital. Don't take them with you, they can easily get lost in the shuffle.

The swelling does go down, insh'Allah, in a couple of weeks or so, and then you will be able to wear your rings again :).

Re: my rings

yes swelling will go down after 3 to 4 weeks of baby's birth.but try to take them wiith the help of soap because they will hurt u a lot in later mnths

Re: my rings

well im half way through my 8th month now.. and its just been recently that they have gotten really tight... but it only happens on hotter days or when ive been working a bit too much..

thank goodness the swelling goes down!! otherwise id be extremely upset..

Re: my rings

I sure hope the swelling goes down!! I had to stop wearing my rings much earlier. Even my old shoes are a bit uncomfy cuz of feet swelling. I am almost there just 1-2 weeks more Inshallah. I am finally home from work on disability until I deliver.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY MAGICAL IDEA TO GET RID OF STRETCH MARKS>???? :(

Re: my rings

no magic for stretch marks....you should have been applying the appropriate creams all along....that might have helped.

take your rings off now.....it will be much more difficult to do so in later days....and try doing it with oil or soap rather than cream just before you go to bed, or whenever you are the most active (that's when swelling is at it's lowest).

Re: my rings

Its probably the best idea to take your rings off, maybe get a nice heavy chain and wear them on a necklace till you're "done"! My swelling went down even before I left the hospital, you shouldnt have very long to wait to wear them once again. Its better to be safe about it, esp since swelling can come on so quickly when pregnancy is in the late stages, my docs told me that they occasionally need to cut rings off if a patient gets so swollen that the circulation is cut off!

I wish you every joy and happiness with your new baby!

Oh, btw, not much you can do abt the stretch marks. I religiously slathered myself with cocoa butter to no avail. Its all in the genes, as far as how "elastic" your skin happens to be. Just dont scratch! That can make them a bit worse, but as far as prevention, not much you can do. After delivery, you can try "Mederma" a medicinal/onion-based cream that has been proven to dramatically reduce all kinds of scars - including stretch marks. They'll never completely go away but will fade to almost nothing as time goes on.

Just think of them as your well-earned battle scars!!

Re: my rings

Not get pregnant.

You did say magical

Re: my rings

dont they have laser treatments to lighten the look of stretch marks? from my understanding the laser doesnt make it go away completely but it significantly lightens it.

sadly enough....stretch marks are hereditary...if ur mom has it...chances are you'll have it. If you ask any dermatologist ( i used to work for one) they will tell you tose lotions, cremes etc are just for making money....it doesnt help. Stretch marks are caused from w/in not from the outside of your body. So drink plenty of water and keep yourself hydrated...and pray that you dont get them that badly.

Also....excessive weight gain causes them as well....BUT good news it....they do fade as time goes by....they wont be as bad as they look in the begininng.

Best of Luck. :)

Re: my rings

My stretchmarks really faded with a lot of fitness training believe it or not. I also used a stretchmark cream and oil by decleor...really gorgeous smelling stuff! I never took my rings off and for ages i cudnt get them off but ur fingers do go back down but mine didnt for quite a long time.

Re: my rings

No I have been using Palmer's cocoa butter from the beginning as my tummy began to gro, i was fine until 6th month....but i had a sudden growth spurt and most of weight gained went straight to my belly. I dunno about hereditary...my mom had 3 babies...and to be honest her tummy has NO stretch marks at all...and my khala had 8 and she also has a decent stomach...so maybe its the rapid weight gain. I try not to itch, but sometimes it gets so weird that i itch it, i tried to avoid nail itching, rather itch with forefingers....but i guess no help :(

i need to look into mederma product, see what i can do without laser surgery. Anyone else had sudden growth spurt?

Re: my rings

yes and baby will come out in 9 months if that is the next question you will pose. Touba hai.

Re: my rings

^ why do u even enter such threads... honestly..

thanks girls... ive only got 6 more weeks to go.. my rings arent hurting as such, but im just scared that my fingers may get too swollen.. ive taken two off already just cant take these last two off..

Afro-sheen, ive been applying cocoa-butter religiously from like the 3rd month and i was doing fine until i think my 6th month as well... but i think the more cocoa butter i apply, the better i feel.. plus i havent gone thru the itching stage yet... and i hope i dont either!!!

Re: my rings

Sadz, best of luck to you. My due date is next week, but after my doctor's visit, looks like its going to be a scheduled C-section..possibly as baby decided not to go head down :( Totallllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy dissapointed...but Allah knows best. Just pray whatever procedure, pray baby is born healthy and I am fine. I go back THursday again to my ob-gyn and she will make a decision. If I have no hope of natural, than I would like to schedule delivery this Friday!!!! Gives me the whole weekend for recovery :) Well I mean my whole familys would be home on the weekend, and won't have to take off work for the 1st few days. Wow. Pray for meeeeeeeeeeeeeee...getting nervous man

Re: my rings

Afro if you do have a C then leave the rings in the chain at home cause you would need to remove all jewelry for the surgery. Many wishes to you and your baby to be!

Re: my rings

good luck afro!!!!!

was ur baby head down at all?? my bubz has been head down for about 2 months now, and she hasnt moved since then.. well hasnt moved into any other position... so far so good! Inshallah she'll stay that way...

dont worry, as long as u and baby are safe, it doesnt matter how he/she comes into this world... its a blessing regardless... im so excited for u!!! ive got 6 weeks to go... ai hai
