One of my relatives is moving to Multan, and is a little apprehensive having never been there. Is there anyone here based in Multan or with knowledge of it who would be able to help with some basic questions?

Why whats wrong with a little bit of Multani heat? I find the oppresive heat is good for me and lets out the nasty stuff from my body.
Besides avoid mid-day as it's too hot for most people... and early morning excersis should be no more than twenty minutes... and youll break sweat in 5!

But in Multan in whole day you have sweet but in the mid night and early in the morning its awesome to sleep on the roof. Very cool breeze

first off, whats the security situation like? where are good schools? they have a daughter who goes to city school, i understand theres a branch of that in multan? is that in a good area?

ok security ...... best protector is Allah. but if u compare with some big cities, security is much better. but also depends what area they choose to live in.
Good schools are in cantt and gulgasht. that bosan road. City school does have a branch there in gulgasht , it used to be there but now i don't know.
The area is fine with other schools, institutes and offices. Especially sweet pizza hut is near it. So best of luck for them.

I love Multan , this is historical place and people of Multan are genrally very nice and good host.I do have some knowledge about Multan lets see
Best place to live in multan is Cantt.Good schools are in gulgasht and cantt as Bosan road is known good for schools and colleges too.Also, they do have british international school in multan.

Security is pretty good from what I saw from when I was they in May. Lots of checkpoints around.

I agree that the best area to live in is Cantt. I can't imagine living in Gulgasht.
They definitely need a generator and ups. Load shedding in Multan can be horrendously bad and you need to power at least one AC and the freezer.

Multan isnt that bad a choice for living. Apart from all that has been stated above. We have a Chen-one too. The family should be at ease if they go for branded goods. Multan is nice peaceful city. Except for Mcdonalds there are all the countrywide famous eatouts. Heat is an issue yes, but well one has to compromise over one or the other things. Have your acs on and you will be as good as anywhere else. Gas generators run acs fine.
