If you look at the country’s geographical location, its surrounded by some of the most disturbed countries (politically and law & order wise). Yemen, Jordan, Iraq shares the border. Israeli area is probably a stone’s throw away. Sudan, Egypt are a short sea journey away. Yet Saudi Arabia is still one of the most peaceful places in the world with very low crime rate and almost zero political unrest.

If its Islamic laws then we have Islamic laws in other countries too.
If its dictatorship, then we have that in other countries too.
If it is affluent general population (although not true) then we have other countries where we have very low poverty rate.

So what do you think the reason is?

one word tribal culture.

remember in 80 & 90s FATA was the most peaceful area in the country regardless of all the halla-gulla in Afghanistan , but after the 2001 US attack it blown up because the tribal system of governce and Pashtunwali (the ancient code of life for Pashtun) was broken.

secondly, US/Europe/China/Russia .. err all the major powers have stake in the stability of Saudi Arabia not just because of oil but also Mecca/Medina and influence of Saudi’s on ordinary Muslims as far as Brunei.

From the Islamists point of view, its stable because of Land of Hejaz - wallah o alam
