Of all man’s gifts
I admire passion most of all,
Passion for anything,
Good or evil
Flesh or spirit.
I do not mean ambition or greed,
Commitment and creed,
These are man-made substitutes, passionless.
I mean a passion that forgets self
And ignores time,
Transforming, expanding, renewing,
Unafraid of undoing whatever has been done.
Passion has no master or teacher,
All life is its servant,
It is curious about the whole world.
It lusts for sun and moon, and is a friend of stars,
Delights in storms and snow and the desert’s heat.
No money can buy it,
It is no respecter of sex or station,
Race or education.
Without it eyes are dim and hearts faltering,
Without it death cannot come too soon.
It has already arrived,
Only waiting to be announced.
thats nice yaar
