Complete BS.
Arab autocrats did not come to people. After World War II, Middle East and Africa was cut and divided by the Allied countries and random borders were drawn up ensuring instability (like Iraq being a combo of at least 3 different ethnic groups).
Those ‘autocrats’ were handpicked and installed after WW II. They did not need to ‘go to people’. They just needed to lick European boots to get blessings.
[classic examples being King Abdullah of Jordan, King Idris of Libya, Nuri Pasha al-Said of Iraq, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran etc.]
