I look at all the issues that businesses and consumers seem to have which get brought here to discuss.
I thought i would add my own experience.
I ordered some shirts from Thomas Pink, they sent me a confirmation of order receipt and estimated shipment date. They also noted that i would not be charged until items are ready to be shipped. then i received another email notifying me of order shipment and with tracking info.
got the shirts right on time, but was busy so just put them in my closet and did not look at them.
received another email from the company, confirming i had received the shirts and liked them. I looked at the shirts and two shirts which looked fairly different in pics looked very similar in person, so i called them, the deal on which I had bought the shirts was over but the honored it and asked me to pick a different shirt. I did that, shipped the unwanted shirt back, and had my replacement shirt in a week.
and to make up for my inconvenience, they included extra brass collar stays and tie for free.
yay thomas pink. I love the fact that being a dude, I deal with reputable designers with solid business processes and customer service and not with ..well you know..
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
I buy my work shirts from Thomas Pink as well. Not through their website though but given that their sizing is pretty consistent perhaps I'll give it a try.
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
Are you trying to compare well established companies with home based designers that have their mommies answer their phones? Well yeahhhh! But trying having some gota put on your striped shirt…can Thomas Pink do that? Huh huh?
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
I totally understand...............I shop online all the time ..............and have had similar experience when buying men's clothing............american women's clothing....shoes............outstanding customer service.............the problem I have faced with a Desi Designer has been a true ordeal...........! She has had the nerve to say that she will not refund my money for dresses which I NEVER RECEIVED.......because I MISBEHAVED..........she has not accepted responsibility in any shape or form for anything..........she has $925 of my money which she has and has flatly told me NOBODY CAN DO ANYTHING TO HER IF SHE IS CHEATER...........! Wow..........perhaps designers can take lessons on Customer SErvice from these Companies.......Unfortunately our Deen has not really influenced us in the way we deal with others!
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
I find that i get access to a better selection and especially at deal times, i get advance notice of sales and I am there, i know what I want and 5 mins after the sale starts i have my stuff. I can go to local stores here but selection is an issue and the time fuel and parking is more than shipping
No, I am just saying that it is great that I don’t have to do that. I have not had pink do it, but tyrwhitt does custom sleeve lengths and monograming for me

My wife had some bad experiences with a 'designer' as well. i think I have posted about it before, since then she has gotten wise to this game and only orders from established places, first you get what you ordered, second it is quality product, and the extra 20-30% may seem a lot but i am not willing to pay 20% less and get something which may be dodgy, not as advertised, quality issues, etc etc.
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
@holy_moly…I think most of GS knows about my nightmare …her name is on thread that is still open…I don’t know who cheated X2’S wife…it would be nice to have the name of that designer as well as alot of don’t recall or new to GS
@X2 it wold also be very helpful if mentioned the outstanding, exceptional designers HB or otherwise so we know who we should order from and who to avoid…
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
thanks for posting link...........I went thru...........and was very disappointted in what I read.......lots of negative REviews on Hina B......most people said that the cloth she uses is of low quality.......seems to be a common problem.......alot of designers will swear that the price of cloth increases daily and using pure fabric is too costly........I do realize that there is great fluctuation and volality in pakistan.....but doubling the price is hard to swallow
the biggest problem that i found is that once a designer finds out that you like their work..........they increaste their prices substantially and lower the qulaity of work......you would think that the would try hard to satisfy an existing customer but I find that is not always the case....
With Hina B I saw alot of comprising on quality to lower costs....but from my understanding she does deliver a product......what do you when your dresses are not delivered at all and it is blamed on post office for the disappearing parcel? I wonder if the postmaster wife has an affinity for Pakistani clothes?
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
I love your statement:
Then the try to make you feel guilty acting as though they are doing you a favour ... when in fact they are just performing a paid service ... if you want to do me a favour, do it for free!
^^^^
This is my point exactly to the designers.....you are performing a paid service.........if there an exchange of money involved then seller has certain responsiblities.....to do the work as specified and to make sure that the customer receives the goods.....it is not enough to say that THIS WAS A MISHAP....yes mishaps to happen but it is ultimately resolve these matters in a timely matter....an answer from the seller saying it is not my fault.......is not acceptable!

hidayah auntie, if you are looking for darzan, i know one of them and can provide phone number to you if you want.

you know something Hidayah.......the repetitive sarcasm in your posts is getting tiresome.......and it's taking away any sort of sympathy that you might have earned with your predicament.
I understand your frustration but I don't see any need to go out of your way to assassinate someone's character as you have done.......what if it turns out that every that woman is saying turns out to be true? At least leave yourself some room to wriggle out.....
sorry X2 and mods.....this post likely belongs in the other thread....
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
@ Hidayah, the designer you are referring to, I think needs to be taught some lesson. I also provide home based services to the clients living abroad. One of my client's is quite particular about where she is spending her money and I like the way she takes interest in everything. For 6 days, we just kept exchanging over 200 emails just to make sure that each and everything could be done according to her wishes. I ave even taken pictures of buttons, laces and stuff for her to choose from so that she likes her suit when they are made, although I had to pay extra visits for her suits. Even told her that her slip would be 19/20 different from her original suitdue to the fabric of clothes and all..I think a home based designer can only provide such services if he or she is really passionate about his or her work. My client is mA happy from me so I can safely say that there are some designers who are doing good too..its only that some irresponsible people try to ruin everyone's image!
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
@Muzna .....as president of GS......thank you for your concern.......yes my sarcasm and tone is probably getting tiresome. to many.....and I apologize for that......I was having a discussion with X2 about customer service........he mentioned about great customer service with some of the Men's Shirt Companies he dealt with......and how great they were.......then he listed a thread from 3 yrs ago.....about issues his wife had with another designer......this was a comment on that and sometimes the difference we see in customer service.
As I wrote in my first post of my original thread from 3 weeks ago.....I hope it is me who is WRONG.......I have been wrong many times I will be the first to admit.......but its been 5 weeks and the designer comes and periodically updates thread.....anyways......I get the message I will try to curb my posting......wether I get my money or not remains to be seen.......I leave it in the hands of Allah.......but unfortunately my mistrust began even before the package was mailed....maybe it was my paranoia........again I hope I am the one the one that is wrong......and I will public apologize for my misgiving and for acting in haste.
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
@Purple_Titlee…Most people/designers are doing a great job…am not a designer but I have tried selling clothes as a part time work and I know it is difficult and competitive work…and you are not always compensated for all the work that is put in…most people don’t realize all the work that is involved in making of an dress, selling and shipping…I have been an avid buyer and seller so I do realize the difficulties of both…that is why I never gave the seller in my transaction any trouble about payment…nor did I haggle on price…once I thought I was getting prices I did not request a further reductions…I was extremely polite and businesslike but I now I think that my behavior reflected mE as a Naive individual…
I have also seen when a customer will request tons of pics of everything and email back and forth and later say that they have changed their minds and they are not interest…so believe I have some idea about the difficulties of the trade…and I try to respectful of others time…but it is not a pleasant feeling to be taken advantage of…whether you are a designer/seller or buyer…I have read of the case where buyer cancels her order for a custom made wedding dress and leaves the seller the headache of selling a personalized /custom dress…TO MUZNA AND the moderators of this forum, the purpose of this is not to BASH All DESIGNERS…I am not a designer nor am I manufacturer…but I am avid fan of Desi clothes…So.
We do need designers to continue their hardwork and dedication so we can continue to enjoy the lastest pakistani fashions at competitive prices…
We all need to understand each others needs…earning a living in any profession has its difficulties…the job of designer is especially difficult with all the competition and volatility in Pakistan. So once again I apologize if I come across as bitter and if anybody thinks I am trying to tarnish the image of all designers…
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
I agree with you Hidayah..there is a lot of effort put in..mental, physical exertion and yes, we are not compensated for the hard work we do..but don’t worry, Allah will compensate for your loss in a better way
Re: My online shopping experience- dissatisfaction with the item and returns.
Yeah while shopping online this thought always come in mind that are they gonna send the same product which we are ordering. The thing is have you approached the right online store? Now in Pakistan we have a huge list of online stores but none of them is providing imported products like products for Amazon eBay or wall mart. I often need to buy some medicines for my grandma and all products are difficult to find in Pakistan after a lot search and on a recommendation of a colleague I tried to shop with storemass.com and with no doubt I would say they are providing really good services now we can have all those products which USA or other countries are using. Recently I ordered hair care product and yes they delivered it within given time.
