Why are daughters more close to fathers and sons to mothers?
I don’t know, I mean its not always like this but it is a few times I have noticed.

may be coz they are of different genders ........... i think opposite gender understands the other one better than the same gender .......... may be thats why ALLAH has made a couple of one male & one female :) .........

I think it's because dad's think their daughters are angels and need extra protection so they exhibit more tender loving care towards them rather than their sons. In turn, the girls get more attached to their daddies.
I don't know the dynamics of mom-son relationships as I don't have a son or a brother.
