My mother's wedding jewelry!

Re: My mother’s wedding jewelry!

i was thinking the same thing…but maybe with the pearl strand necklace, u can get it reconfigured into a rani by extending the pearl strands? both sets would compliment each other!

Re: My mother’s wedding jewelry!

**I think three sets might be a bit much, to be honest. You could always keep the kundan set on its own for the Valima and stick to two sets for the shaadi.

And actually, this gorgeous thing paired with a kundan necklace would look stunning, imho- http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/60871/IMG_0353.JPG
You could pair them up for the valima! I’d also make your clothes the exact same shade of ruby as the rubies in that naurattan set.

Re: My mother’s wedding jewelry!

Thats the thing, I don’t want to alter my mom’s jewelry one bit. =(

Wait, I just pictured that nauratan set, paired with a a small kundan necklace (which can have a red ruby in its small pendant) and that indeed would look so stunning! Especially if my red kameez matches the ruby. UFF YOU ARE A GENIUS! Love your eye for color! Also, what if I got a 5 lara haar, with small beads, not chunky/bulky ones and red rubies in the pendants. Wouldn’t that look gorgeous?

So picture this:

Pretend I have a single strand kundan/polki necklace like this (not one that looks like this but just for sizing reference), or slightly smaller as Necklace#1

Necklace#2

And a delicate 5 lara like Kiran’s, her look is the kind I’m going for

Yes/no?
The thing is I just always wanted a kundan necklace, a 5-7 lara bead strand necklace and of course my mom’s jewelry. =(

Re: My mother's wedding jewelry!

I would reverse the order of wearage... first the naurattan necklace cos its a perfect semi-circle around your neck, then the kundan with one strand and a pendant, then the 5 lara haar- maybe the pendant shapes of the kundan set and the 5 lara could mimic the shape of the earrings with the naurattan set, i.e. the v/rounded u sort of traditional pendant shape. that would look way pretty! you would have to design the kundan set somehow so that it doesn't overlap or go under the naurattan set in an awkward way. i really like kiran's 7 lara- its exactly what i was thinking. or ooh, why don't you do a kundan choker thing with a smaller pendant? then you can lower the naurattan set a bit and then have the 5 lara start more or less exactly where kiran's starts. and in fact, that would flow better because your mom's naurattan set is a smooth semi-circle, whereas kiran's seems a bit geometric so the 7 lara is slightly awkward looking- it looks like they've pinned it so it falls a bit outside the middle necklace.

beautiful jewelry!

Re: My mother's wedding jewelry!

I'm new to this site (was a regular reader before). At the cost of butting in, I have to add my two pence in this matter. First of, I must say that you are a very lucky girl - your mother has GORGEOUS jewelry! If I were you, I would go with a traditional bridal in red (or even the deep pinkish ruby) with green accents (I'm thinking Bunto here). For the jewelry, I wouldn't even look anywhere else outside the treasure you already have. I'd wear the tika and jhoomar and the earrings from set 6. The first necklace would be from set 4. Since it's a thick piece, I would forgo the kundan/polki piece and go for a longer necklace. IMO, kundan/polki don't really mesh well with anything else. I would have the set 6 necklace reconfigured to a rani haar by adding two extra sections of pearl extensions on each side. I know you said that you don;t want to change your mom's jewelry but you can even check with your jeweler's to see if they could make it detachable so you can revert it back to its original length when you want to. And last but not the least, you could use the rings to make two separate 1 finger panjas. if you have any matching kadas (or even plain pearl/plain ruby/plain emerald bangles), you could ask your jeweler if he could make a detachable pearl strand each that attaches itself to the middle of your kada and then goes to attach itself to the ring that you have shown. You could wear the panjas on both hands with the rings on your middle finger for the wedding and then detach them once the event is over! You would look so regal, I can't even imagine! :)

Sorry I meant - If I were you, I would go with a traditional bridal in red (or even the deep RUBY-ISH PINK) with green accents (I'm thinking Bunto here
