Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

For a glowy skin it's important the basic skin care routine.
Use cosmetics which doesnt make your skin dry, and a good
moisturizing cream.

When you make-up you can also use a highlighter on your cheekbones and nose.
You can also use a highlighting primer maybe that will help to make your skin glow.

You have a dry skin so you can better use cream blusher instead powder blush.

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

The products you've mentioned are really really good. I think where you're going wrong is with your choice of foundation maybe? It doesn't matter how good the primer is, if the foundation you are using is not the right one for your skin, you won't get the desired look.

I would suggest trying a new foundation, something that will suit your dry skin.

One of my most loved products when it comes to getting that 'glowy' look is Estee Lauders Spotlight, Skin Tone Perfector. It's a really great product.

And as Jaweriya has suggested, try using highlighters, they also help achieve the look you're going for.

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

If your skin is dry and patchy foundation will just 'settle' in the dry area's and you won't get the glow you're looking for. Make sure you scrub and moisturize and condition/prep your skin before you apply your foundation. It's important that you begin with a clean, moisturized face. Benefit's High Beam and The Body Shops' Radiant Highlighter are both great.

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

Why don't u check at Makeupadikt's video on Flawless Glowy Skin? What's Ur Mac Foundation Number?

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

Actually im confused with my foundation shade aswell...I used NC 44 and it turns my skin orange and dark so i think NC 42 is the colour for me although i have darker forhead...basically my skin tone isnt even!

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

I used benefit cosmetics high beam but didn't get that glow so tried out that new one called Girl Meets Pearl and that seems to get the glow I wanted. I used Revlon Photoready 006 Medium Beige as a foundation, Mac was too expensive. Maybe u need to figure out what ur undertones are?

Re: My makeup problem…not getting a glow!

  1. Apply lots and lots of moisturizer on ur face and leave for 5 minutes

  2. Get rid of any excess oils with a tissue and apply primer and then strobe/high beam

  3. spritz some fix plus (or rosewater) b4 applying foundation and powder

  4. go over the high lighted areas with a bronzer/highlighter/blusher

^A useful chart I came across

and u should achieve tht “glow” also try using a creamy foundation

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

i think mac makeup is dry textured makeup so if u hv dry skin buy a moisturizing makeup dat also gives a dewy n oily luk(doest nt a bad oily rather healthy luk for dry skin) n over u can apply mac strobe cream or mix it in ur foundation..i think ur foundation is not particularly for dry skin although such foundations can b applied after the application of a gud moisturizer but sometimes they dont work.take a light massage wid some facial massage creams for dry skin or few drops of almond oil in nite.

Re: My makeup problem....not getting a glow!

@Colorfuleyes: Thankyou so much for the HELPFUL tips and the chart is AWESOME!!

@Horizon: you are right i should get some oily sort of foundations but i have like nc43 kind skin tone and if i apply oily stuff on my face i look even darker...so thats the problem too with me..

@FAIZAN: I heard alot about high beam and stuff but it looks like a nailpolish lol ill check out girl meets pearl for sure, Thankyou:)

You can try using YSL Touche Eclat while using your makeup. Its one product that has gotten rave reviews all over.

A shimmer blush should also do the trick.

If you have a party to attend in the night try exfoliating your skin with any over the counter exfoliating facewash in the morning and massaging it with a generous amount of almond oil or ghee or a cold cream and leave it on. Then take a hand towel and dip it in boiling water and let it sit there for a second , squeeze it out but be careful, wear gloves while squeezing the towel.

You will have a steaming hand towel, like the ones they give you on the plane. Leave on your face for a few minutes so your skin absorbs the oils. You can sue this for your hair as well if you have oiled it. Steam opens your pores and lets the oils in.
