My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

So I have a Yahoo account and just like other accounts, I get daily emails on it. The only issue is that even if I delete the mail, it pops right back up when a new mail on Yahoo arrives, or after a sync occurs. So unless I go online and actually delete the emails from trash, they always keep popping back on as unread messages on my phone.

What’s the deal with that?

Re: My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

clear your cache aunty jeeee

Or take it to the Genius Bar... :p

Re: My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

I clean my cache almost daily  I have an app for that :stuck_out_tongue:

And I don’t have an Apple phone. Sheesh. I’m expecting a more technical answer please. Something with my settings? A server issue? What what?

Re: My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

Is the native email app or yahoo email app?

I m assuming that its the native email app then it could be happening if you have setup your account as SMTP instead of a pop3 account.

Here are the settings that some people have reported works for them:

Here are the settings on my Nexus 4 manual mail setup for Yahoo that work as of today :

incoming:
imap.mail.yahoo.com
port: 993
security: SSL/TLS (accept all certifications)

outgoing:
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
port: 465
security: SSL/TLS

Try this and if this doesn't work is there a way for you to install the yahoo email app? One of the reasons I saw was that yahoo changed their email settings so it could not be used with anything other than yahoo email app. That is what I use on my phone.

Hope this helps....

Re: My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

^ Just to mention SMTP and POP3 are same type of email settings. Usually apps give you the option to choose between IMAP and SMTP/POP3.

As a side note, I have Yahoo email as my junk email box :)

Re: My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

^Read it wrong then. Thanks for the correction Namaan. The only thing that made sense was the settings and using yahoo mail app.

Mine too.

I know but had to rub it in right…

Re: My issue with Yahoo mail on my phone

I didn't know they allowed tapping into Yahoo mail via IMAP and POP3! I have another hack which I setup years ago, so all my Yahoo mail goes to Gmail. Once in a while I go to Yahoo and delete AAAAAAllllllllllllllllll the emails there. Pretty simple, really.
