My mom does keep my bedroom cat and cat hair free. It still doesn’t work. Cat dander is hard to get rid of unless you sanitize your place and my husband’s cat allergies are pretty bad. Even if the cat is locked in one room, the dander is still present throughout the house because the cat is all over the house at all other times. Dander is like dust. It’s everywhere! Also he has taken Allegra, Claritin etc. but the only thing that works for him is a steroid spray. And someone mentioned to take that and visit the family every 2 weeks. Well the spray has to be taken a week in advance for it to work so he’ll be taking it half the month which is not something I would like him to do. This spray is really strong.
You can’t treat allergies…it’s a condition that one has to live with and some medications can offer temporary relief. Most doctors just tell you to stay away from the source of the allergy i.e. the cat.
I am going to limit our visits to once a month and have the cat stay at a family friend’s while we are there. If that doesn’t work, we just have to stop visiting and have my family visit us instead. We are only near my family for two years anyways so hopefully this approach can work till we move back.
