Even though YOU bought the cat, your mum and siblings have grown to love it, its a life after all, not some inanimate object, it has its own personality and quirks or whatever and people love their pets, so the best compromise would involve the cat staying methinks and maybe getting your family to visit you more often. And as someone some members have already suggested, maybe keep it at a friend’s home for the weekend you’re there?
Honestly if i had a pet cat, i wouldnt be able to get rid of it just like that. Cats may not be as loyal as dogs but people are always really attached to their pets, no matter what kind of pet they are. also have you tried to explain how badly your hubby suffers to your mum and that he feels hurt and as if the cat is more important to her than him? Might make her more sensitive to his issue with the cat? anyways, good luck!
