my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

how do you girls manage to keep straightened hair STRAIGHT if it’s all the frikin time raining :hinna:
it’s been ages that i ironed my hair … :crying:

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

i don't think there is much that you can do. if your straighter gets it real straight, like ghd's (or my remington's), it shouldn't be affected by the rain too much. and if it does, well, no amount of products will really make a difference.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

Try a de-frizz straigtning gel

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

hoodies are a staple in my wardrobe for this reason. Thick ones (for colder weather)... thin ones (for warmer weather).... in all different colors. lol.

I just consider my hoody a part of my outerwear. Whenever I get somewhere, I just take it off.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

^ exactly! i hate excess baggage … i can never understand what to wear … or in my case … what not to wear … i am really bad with carrying things … i wish i had this floating bag with my at all times that no one could steal ( and i never have to physically carry it … any scientists/inventors out there??? helloowww!!!), and i could put everything and anything in it, and use it at all times needed …

stoppit … i got a remington too … gets the hair pretty darn straight … my hair naturally has a big wave to it if untouched … and after walking in the rain for like 5 mins … yeah … the wave is back … i dont mind the wave on my hair … i actually like it … but its the front flick part that i’d like to maintain the straightened look with … :hmmm:

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

Why don't u either carry an umbrella around with u, or just cover it with a scarf until ur out of the rain

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

Try an anti humectant creme, like Aveda's.It's a blue container, and I remember it was pretty effective in keeping my hair wave free in humidity and rain.

Fix-it sprays help the hair stay straight even on very damp and humid days. We really need them, humidity in Dubai is terrible around summers.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

^same here in Islamabad. Which sprays gina? Specify brand.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

^^ yes gina ... could you name a specific brand ...

as for dubai ... i think i was quite lucky with when i visited it ... or perhaps lahori humidity had touched sky-high, that it didnt feel much in dubai ... i was there in september 2008 ... loved the weather actually ... my phupoo said she fainted when she went there cuz of suffocation and humidity :|

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

Have you tried the L'oreal straightening balm? It works really well. Comes in a pink bottle. In addition, as other have said an umbrella or a hoody is a must.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

i hate carrying umbrellas and hoodies around with me  So freaking annoying … but unfortunately extremely necessary sometimes if you want to save your hair from wetness. Humidity and dampness is one thing… but straight up wet rain is another thing. :frowning:

Can you believe that it rained for 2 months STRAIGHT … as in every single day this past summer where I live??? :bummer: And this is very abnormal weather for this area…

Freaking global warming…

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

^I agree. All the products in the world won't help if your hair actually gets wet with rain.

The way the weather is in London at the moment, very wet *and *windy, an umbrella is not enough - I need a hood plus an umbrella.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

Try doing a playground duty in the flipping rain! Not good for Miss Milly's hair. :( One of the teachers actually told me she would do my playground duty for me today as she knows how sad I get about my hair.

Luckily I have GHD's and my hair isnt actually that bad with light rain, it just gets a little bit of volume in it and that I can cope with.

Heavy rain and I would have been crying, inspite of GHD'ed hair. The joys of having 'naturally curly (frizzy) hair!

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

don’t laugh at me guys. But I actually carry a miniature version of my hair straightner around in my purse if I have a special event to attend (weddings, going to the theater, etc.) and I know the weather is super duper rainy.

Sometimes even the hoody and umbrella isn’t good enough thanks to the darn wind. :bummer:

As soon as I reach my final destination, first top is to the restrooms, I plug in the baby hair straighter and fix the front (that is usually the only part that is affected… hoody +umbrella keeps the rest in check).

It heats up in a second just like my regular straightner (I have a SEDU) and only takes me like a minute or two to fix up that front. My hair is super curly naturally so it looks odd if the rest of my hair is sick straight and the front is puffy and curly. :frowning:

Baby straightner came free with the mama straightner  Verrrryyyyy handy. It’s seriously TINY.

Here is a pic of it:

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
I W A N T T H A T !!!

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

i hate umbrellas, and it rains a lot on the west coast--- finally ended up buying a waterproof jacket with a hood. tuck hair under nicely, and it keeps its shape at least until the end of the day.

Re: my hair straightener is not happy with all that rain!!!

hun - u can get it at Folica.com - The best selection of hair care, flat irons and hair styling products anywhere

It’s a SEDU … and I think it runs for $50 US. I got mine free as a promotional deal. It came with a baby heat mat, a cute little zebra print pouch for it and a heat glove (no idea what this was at first. lol).

Some girls have given it crap reviews because they expect this little baby straightner to be able to straighten all of their hair. Um.. no.. I don’t think that is the point of it… obviously its not going to do as good of job and will take forever to use because its freaking TINY. But take it from me- It is GREAT and super convenient for minor touch ups and something to have “on the go” and should never replace your “regular straightner”… aka the “Mama” ! . lol

This would be a perfect solution to your front flick part! :hugz:

Why would you like that, its crazy:( Its like feat hitting right on your face if u get out even in the evening. But i didn't have the frizzy hair problem there. Its really sick here in islamabad in august. Ughh I just hate it. Use spray, serums or whatever, u're gonna get sick locks.

i cant find the baby sedu :frowning:
