I want to get admissions in MS of Engineering.
Yesterday I appeared for GRE general exame,
I got 680 Points in Quantitative while 310 in Verbal section.
the analytical part result has to come, but I expect till 4 on 0-6 scale.
I wonder can I win any favourable addmission in some good universities abroad.
I have registered already for another try for GRE though.
hey, if money is an issue a good idea wud be to apply for a combined masters/phd program, a lot of schools waive all ur fees and give u a stipend for living expenses if u get accepted (obvs u have to have good grades, idk if ur gre score is good or not i have no clue abt that stuff yet)...if u dont wanna get a phD look for programs which will grant u a masters after 2 years even if u drop out (but dont let on in ur application that ur planning on dropping out obvs) some schools wont grant u a masters if u drop out after 2 yrs but some schools will, good luck :)
Nice to know this
My B.E is from Mehran University of Engg in Karachi (Dawood College) , Field in Electronic Engineering.
What is your field of studies ?
Gr8 I am doing my BE from NUST PN Engineering College, Karsaz Road, Karachi. I have just joined 1st semester. My majors are in Electrical Engineering. It's just beginning of my path so, I would like to seek some guidance from you if you don't mind.
Were you able to get some good job upon graduation from
DCET? I mean, I hear now-a-days that electronics/electrical fields have become saturated. There are more engineers and less jobs??? What has been your experience. Was it easy getting a job? And approximately how much for an electrical engineer is employed as a fresher in Pakistan?
MY QUERIES ARE OFF-TOPIC but you may kindly reply.
I used to work for admissions office during my undergrad and 310 in verbal is a little low for most reputable engineering universities, 680 in quant is acceptable. Though you can find plenty of universities in US that will take you with these scores.

Nust I know is a reputable institution in Pakistan.
Electrical will remain always a brilliant field in Engineering.
If some one says Electrical Field have saturated , I think he/she may not be aware of the Real scope of Electrical Engineering.
But , still one thing remains always on top, how one study one field , if you will study well, you feel confidence that will lead you to good positions I am sure.
I didnot find any difficulty in finding Job, after second month of my result of B.E i had gotton job, resigned from that after an year to join another one and now going to quite the existing one for further studies.
I know many of my fellows got good jobs and some still are jobless as luck also work you know.
For now you should concentrate on your studies, every of your subject has its own importance.
You will find your Electrical Engineering course in form of groups of subjects like Power Transmission , Power Generation , Electrical Mechines, Transformers etc.
your first two years of studies would be introductory type or background making type plus Mathematics would in abundant to make you conversant with understanding complex analysis.
You can make some particular field as your Major group like Power generation or transmission so enable yourself become master in that.

Glad to know for you having on board with such informations.
I am appearing for GRE once again as that was my first attempt with little preparation.
This time hope for more score, I am saying on the basis of my preparation.
In case I get 750 in Quat: and 400 in Verbal what do you think would I be able to get some scholarship in US for my Master studies.?
I would say you will have a fair ~ good chance depending on your grades in the core engineering courses you took at your undergrad level.
In the US, admission policies not only differ between university to university, it even differs between colleges to colleges (business college vs. engineering college) and in most cases between departments to departments (civil engineering vs. comp. sci for example). So you have to do research or at least find some alumis from your current school who are now studying abroad to fill you in about the details of the university they are attending.
Regarding scholarships, if you don't get funding for your first semester, you should definetly consider universities, actually specific departments, that has a lot of funding available. Because there is a good chance you might get funding/scholorship in your second semester.
The idea is that if you do not have any offers of scholarship for your first semester, you might be better of going to a more expensive school that does offer a lot of funding than going to a cheaper school that does not offer any because if you are a good student, in the long run, the one with the funding sources will give you funding and will end up costing less than the more expensive school.

Thanks Abu Saad
Wishing you the very best in 2nd attempt of GRE
And do tell me when you make your path to some foreign university
