I fully agree with the comment that GPS is actually a necessity, and not a luxury. People don't realize it till they actually get one.
Losing a signal may an issue for portable units. But printing Mapquest as a back-up just defeats the purpose, I think.
However, one word of caution. Even when using a GPS, always be aware of your surroundings, keep an eye on the road signs and use common sense while following the directions given by the machine.
