The recipe was a bit different. I used very little amount of chocalate for filling but still it was very good in taste.

Naah it wasn't a plain cake. It's just the outer view of a cake, inside it's more than that :D Got this wonderful recipe from Tueday Review of Dawn few years back and finally tried it on my father's birthday, actually 2 days after birthday :p But oh well thanx God everybody liked it. It was really soft and even I was amazed ke ye kaise ban gaya :) Let me know if you want the recipe.
By using the same recipe I am gonna bake a Coffee Cake on the birthday of my sis next month Inshallah.

good job!!! i dont think iive made cake w/o a cake mix before, but i can bake everything else w/o a mix ( no break n bake cookies for me)

heres a tip, when putting the icing writing on, cut a smaller hole for the tip, or make sure the icing is a lil harder, stick it in the fridge for a lil bit!

Here is the recipe:
Death by Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
- Flour (1 ½ cup)
- Baking powder (2 tsp)
- Cocoa powder (2 tbsp)
Mix all the above ingredients with flour
- Sugar (1 cup) (I didn’t use the powder form)
- Honey (2 tbsp)
- Egg well beaten (2)
- Fresh milk (1 cup)
- Oil (1 cup)
For Icing and Filling
- Mix fruit jam (4 tbsp)
- Fresh cream (1 ½ cup)
- Icing sugar (4 tbsp)
- Vanilla essence (4 to 5 drops)
- Plain chocolate (1 cup) (I had not even a half cup of chocolate at that time but still the taste was cool. 1 cup is super cool for chocolate freaks like me).
Directions
Heat up the oven for 5 to 7 minutes. Grease up two baking pans. Add sugar, honey and milk into the eggs and beat properly. Then slowly add oil while beating. Put this mixture into the flour and beat the mixture with flour until the mixture gets creamy.
Pour equal portions of the mixture into both pans and bake in the oven for 15 minutes down and 5 minutes up at the temperature of 250 degree centigrade (that’s my oven settings) until brown. Then take pans out of the oven and leave out to cool off.
Warm up the jam and beat it a little. Apply jam to the upper layer of one cake and at the bottom of the other. Warm up some water in an open utensil and place one pan on it, thus melting the chocolate and fresh cream. Add vanilla essence and icing sugar to thicken the mixture. Take the pan off after thickening and leave to cool off. Spread this mixture evenly on jam surface of both cakes.
Now stick the two cakes together in a sandwich formation. Be careful to let the jam surface stay on top when you pile the cakes together. Then apply the chocolate mixture evenly all around the cake and smooth over with a knife. Serve fresh or store in a refrigerator to serve cool (though it's better to store in a refrigerator). Use any chocolate syrup for topping/writing anything over it.

sara_zzz thanx for the tip, I did the same and yes I call him papa, in my family it's a common word :) and yeah I used chocolate syrup for topping.

Mindless good try:p But you should also try cooking other dishes as well,zindagi sirf cake kha kha ker nahin guzar sakti you know
