My face-scrub/exfoliator?

Which one works for you and makes you feel squeaky clean? We’ve heard from lots of St. Ives fans, MAC Volcanic Ash fans?

What’s your favorite and why? How many times do you use it per week? Find an image and post please!

I use Neutrogena blackhead eliminating scrub once a day. It’s got 2% salicylic acid in it that provides chemical exfoliation and also some tiny little beads that gives you mechanical exfoliation, leaving skin very soft and clean. It’s a bit pricey, though. So, I’d keep coming back to this thread to find out any other scrub that contains 2% SA - one that works just as good as this Neutrogena one, if not any better and costs less.

Which one do you use, Gina?

I wonder if that would be good for an 11 year old. I know this young lady who’s nose is filled with blackheads. I’ve told her to use this:

But now I am wondering if she should use what you use since all the oil is only on her nose and it is the center for all the blackheads. What would you ladies reccommend?

Re: My face-scrub/exfoliator?

I am no expert but I can't see why a teenage girl or someone who is on the verge of puberty can't use this. SA gives you a very nice exfoliation and, thus, keeps comedones and acne at bay. What I do is rub this scrub gently on face and then let it on for good 5-6 minutes, at least, so it has got all the time to do what it's supposed to do. When I wash it off, it leaves wonderfully fresh and clean skin behind without the horrible squeaky clean and taut feel.

Re: My face-scrub/exfoliator?

Would you use this every day?

If not, is there something she can use on a regular basis to clean her face?

If you ladies know, should she avoid any foods or anything for that matter that might cause this?

Re: My face-scrub/exfoliator?

I do use it everyday because it is not a very abrasive scrub. You don't even need to constantly rubbing it since SA is doing all the work for you. I slap it on, let it stay for 5-6 minutes, and I rub it gently while rinsing it.

I have dealt with acne since my teenage and I can tell you what worked for me. First of all, get her a good and gentle cleanser and tell her to cleanse her face as soon as she comes home from outside. 2) Splash some chilled rosewater after cleansing. It's very soothing and has zero side effects as we all know. 3) A good water based moisturizer is a must. Cetaphil makes awesome moisturizer that is very gentle and moisturizes very well without making you look like a pot of oil. Apart from that, basic hygiene is a must. Also, ideally, I'd ask her to incorporate a good sunscreen in her skincare regime. The sooner one starts using sunscreen, the better, IMO.

As far as diet goes, tell her to incorporate loads of fresh vegetable and fruit in her diet. It does work wonders, trust me. She should eat plain yogurt as well. Cut down on intake of sugar, junk food, greasy and fried stuff etc. If she's craving for sweet, she can have bits of dark chocolate which, contrary to the popular belief, is actually good for you because of its anti-oxidant properties.

Sorry for derailing your thread, Gina!

Re: My face-scrub/exfoliator?

I use Bobbi Brown exfoliating cream once a month. It comes in a silver tube.

Can you use this everyday, Chanda?

Re: My face-scrub/exfoliator?

Wish..i use it twice per week. but, if my skin is flaking, then more..

Re: My face-scrub/exfoliator?

Biore scrubbing wash. doesnt really do much, but it doesnt make me look like a pizza face, which is all I need :k:

she can use any gentle cleansing wash n then Neutrogena's oil free Acne Stess Control 3 in 1. its a gel with salicylic aid 2% that works like a moisturizer. if the black heads r on nose only get them extracted once n then use this gel once everyday. it will keep them at bay.

i hav stopped using scrubs as i exfoliate daily with AHA/BHA now.

wishkamar I use the Bobbi Brown one and one by The Body Shop called the micro-pore refiner. I LOVE it! It's a very fine exfoliant and should be used once a week..it gets rid of all the dead skin and makes your skin feel smoother smooth.

Dusk, she should try the milder versions first like St. Ives apricot scrub for sensitive skin.
