#1. first you type something with the “T” feature.
in this case, i put “fishyyyyyyyyy”

#2. render the layer of the TEXT..

#3. now right click on the layer and choose ‘effects’

#4. DONT use DROP SHADOW (that is selected by DEFAULT)
instead,

#5. go to BEVEL and EMBOSS

#6. play around with the choice of “EMBOSSED” in the “STYLE”..
because it gives a shadow too .. :wink: so u know.. other choices like inner bevel and outer and pillow wont give the ACTUAL effect that I use..

#7. lets say u found perfect shadowing and beveling depth, now u have to make it look like its merged from the picture or sumthin’

so,

use the LAYER type to play around, and also, LAYER CAPACITY BAR

like for THIS one i used

the TYPE of layer: LIGHTEN and capacity: 70%

NOTE: i grayscaled all screenshots.. put this in consideration before getting caught that why they are black’n’white etc…

I know you use bevelling in most of your name-stamps. But this one is different and I think you’ve used this one before.

The text is completely transparent but the drop shadow makes it visible. It does not appear bevelled/embossed. How does one do dat?

if its ver 5.5 and NOT 6.0, follow the steps:

(assuming image is a FULL R.G.B format and not some other indexed or grayscale image), you can do gif by FILE > EXPORT > GIF89a EXPORT..

for jpegs, the way that i REALLY like cuz of no-layers-complexity etc, is:

FILE > SAVE A COPY, and TYPE is JPEG...

ok .. STEP#1:
open an image, (from NEW or OPEN or screenshot) (in this case i took fishy’s screenshot of the very own posting)..

STEP#2: SELECT > ALL (the layer1 on which we need the PAK REMIX kinda effect).

Step#3: now thats is ALL SELECTED, go to EDIT and COPY

STEP#4: go to the “TYPING TOOL” (T) and press/drag it to select the one thats highlighted below: (its also sometimes called TRANSPARENT TYPING) ← confused’s terminology, pay no attention heheeh,

STEP#5:now in this case we type ‘FISHY’ in transparent mode..(see shot below, make sure to squeeze eyes to SEE the transparent FISHY) (no punns intendid baji) :))

CAUTION : make sure u DO NOT click in the image ANYWHERE, or it will DESELECT whats transparently written (CRITICAL for THIS specific effect)…

STEP#6: NOW that the transparently written text is automatically selected, go to EDIT, and PASTE INTO (see shot below)

NOTE: you will c that AFTER doing this step, the graphic will become the SAME, and something like THIS will appear in the layers window:

STEP#7:now RIGHT-CLICK on that KINDA BLACK lookin’ area on the LAYERS window that MAY look like some WHITE-text-on-BLACK and choose “REMOVE LAYER MASK” and press “APPLY” (see shots)

STEP#8: “jigarr thaam ke betho ke abb hamaari baari ayee” .. hehe, just joking, this is the most interesting step baji..

what happens NOW is that u do a right-click on the layer where u JUST did a REMOVE LAYER MASK (layer2 in this case) and choose “EFFECTS” ..

now DROP SHADOW is defaultly checked.. WOWLA.. NOW u can play around and make it the way pak-remix had done (that INITIALLY u wanted to do)..

ps: its NOT a complex effect, just takes sometime to get explaining WHY it acts this way.. also,

NOTE#2: you will notice that AS soon as u move the LAYER2, it NO longer L@@KS like a transparent text with a shadow, but .. u know, kinda messed up, out of ratio thingy. . thing is, when we did PASTE INTO, it pasted the ACTUAL layer1 into that TRANSPARENT SELECTION (which LOOKS like a text) and it was SIZE sensitive..

so i HIGHLY recommend that you MAKE sure of the text (transparent selection that is) ki LOCATION first.. (BEFORE starting to do those steps)..

also, IF u choose NOT to remove the layer mask, this problem might be fixed. i just didnt had time to test it =)

.. sounded JUST like me, only two/three years ago.. (when i started the photoshop v3).. MANNNNNn did i hated transparencies and layers or WHAT.. :).. and now i just LOVE both of them.. =) pretty soon once u will grab the ‘idea’ of both, you will love it too..
