My experience planning my wedding in Pakistan from abroad

Hi guys,

So please ignore the username, I can’t register a new one!

Anyway, I’m getting married in February IA in Islamabad. I live in the UK so was automatically very concerned about planning so far away! Luckily my parents have been very kind and have given my creative freedom.

At the start I started looking at venues and decided with Serena Hotel, an amazing location but a lot of work needed with stage and themes etc. So after trying to do it myself, and being in a full time job myself - I just couldn’t do it myself and further I didn’t have experience of vendors in Pakistan.

I spoke to my friends in Pakistan and one of them recommended a events planner. I was a bit cautious as I thought they would take there share out of all elements and they wouldn’t be professional. But I was very very surprised! They are an established brand with contacts all over Pakistan. On top of all that, they are part of your event and sort everything out if anything goes wrong or do the choreography of people.

There fees start from 30,000 to 150,000 and they get you the best prices. So I think I’ve actually saved money with them and also got my choice of things!

Anyway, this is definitely isn’t a advertisement and I don’t want it to seem like one so if you want to know the name then message me.

Anyway, right now I’m at this stage of the wedding

Venue decided
Venue decoration and stage decided
Invitations decided + and delivery will be by planners
Make up artist decided
Female photography team decided
Dress in process
Accommodation for family decided
Honeymoon schedule being sorted

Just a few that I can think of. So if anyone needs any honest advice on any aspect then please feel free to message my and I’ll give you my number for what’s app. And most of all, please pray for my wedding!

Thanks and good luck!

Just wondering where you're getting your bridal made from and where you're getting your other "post-wedding" outfits made from. Thank for the info by the way!

Re: My experience planning my wedding in Pakistan from abroad

I'm getting my bridal from Mohsin & Sons from Rawalpindi and some post bridal from them too. For other non party wear, I'm just getting normal high street wear - ie Khaadi, Gul Ahmed etc.

Re: My experience planning my wedding in Pakistan from abroad

yey looking forward to your updates! Having my mehndi and baraat function end of next year in islamabad too i'A, and i live abroad too so nice to know its actually possible haha

Can you tell a bit more on how you were in contact with the venue organizers? How did you show them your choice, colours, decorations, lights, music and so on? Through phone or message?
Also, how far before did you book it?
And which makeup artist did you choose? no need for trials?

OOhhh I'm excited for all my lovely sisters here. Please make dua for us singletons too!

Re: My experience planning my wedding in Pakistan from abroad

Yeah ofcourse! So my wedding planners are actually a succesful organisation and branch out to larger events management such as concerts etc - so they had all the contacts there already.

My wedding planner herself is so lovely. I keep in constant communication with her through Whats App and calls. With the colours and themes etc, I would tell them what sort of thing I am looking for and what look I want to achieve and they would send me samples alongside quotes too. If I was unsure of a look or what I think was "in" then she would send me various examples from recent weddings.

In terms of booking - my wedding is in Feb and I started talking to my planners back in March/April 2016. This was really early and not much work was done but we agreed a budget (there costs are very honest and they don't take a percentage from different aspects - they have their very modest fixed fee). When they knew the budget I was working with - they would send me things alongside that.

I chose Hermaine for my make up. I was investigating for several months and the internet has some reviews. But I went to my friends in Islamabad who actually got married recently and most of them recommended Hermaine. If you see pics of brides who have gotten their make up by Hermaine you will see she stands out. She doesn't go for the caked look and her make up is awesome (she uses good and high end brands). Best of all, she does not charge ridiculous amounts and her customer service has so far been great and very warm!

Where is Hermaine based? I saw some of her makeup photos, they look good.
