Its not just about this person being gay.
Even a so called straight person trying to post every little detail of his/her observation without any proper reason will be wrong.
A normal person would have simply explained the experience even in two sentences.
zobia, you are straight, correct? does that mean you'd be attracted to seeing private parts of random uncles at a beach?
and if not, does that mean you are a stigma on the name of heterosexuality? please explain why or why not.
There are a lot of people who observe these kind of acts all over the world but either they tend to ignore after first look or talk about these experiences somewhat classy way.

It is probably true, it is very likely for him to have seen men with privates on display bcos their clothing was wet. It's not going to be a particularly pleasant sight for anyone, and a person who is from a different place will notice things that are unusual and REMEMBER them either bcos it was an UNUSUAL sight that doesn't normally occur in the home environment, or bcos it DISTURBED them or ANY other reason.
He had female cousins there, but I think if you were a male OR female, you would be very uncomfortable to be in that environment. Whether the men in question knew their clothing was see through and didn't care, or were not even aware of how much they were on display, is another matter.

It prevents all this possible embarassment.
I once asked a Paki Shalwar Kameez loving paki-uncle that why he dont wear underpants.

Actually underwear is not in the culture. Under Shalwar no body is wearing anything. i assumed also in India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan is the same. But it is not the reason of embarrassment because the kamez itself is very long.

Ok I am a girl and stuff and I know it is not my business but in my khandaan EVERYONE from a kid to an elderly grandparent wears underpants :) ... So it is not all culture's fault!

Aisha you means under **shalwar **they wear underpants!!
Maybe your khandan is special case but believe me it is in the normal culture of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. You can make some research on it. What i am saying in right for majority of the people but there are always some exceptions to the rule.

The purpose in western culture of wearing underwear is also linked to zippers. You dont want your manhood catching on the zip so you protect it with underwear (in addition to the hygiene factor!). So as a shalwar does not have a zipper, that problem is not there and also..with the heat factor in hot countries, wearing underwear can be very uncomfortably sweaty.
Even the arabs dont wear underwear under the thobas..they wear things like shalwars either in short version or long version.
And just because a guy has a certain sexual preference, he is entitled to be as disgusted as anyone on public lewdness.

It is so shockng to see people cannot even agree on me when I am right atleast.
So Alu Usman, so u disagree to my opnion that wearing underwear would save you embarassment.
Brov. would u also disagree to my opinion that if you were wearing underwear your crotch is less noticeble and less observerble in cases when your pants fail at serving thier purpose.
i.e in the case of the guys above in the water with wet shalwaars.
It doesnt matter whether you wear shalwar kamiz or not you should always wear your under-wear.
Wearing Under-wear including hygeine has more benefits and prevents many mishaps.
We muslims are meant to display the example of most 'aadab' and 'Purity'.
Hygiene/Aadab is have of faith.
