My Eid menu-and what I would change next time-maybe baby.

So this year it was a small affair. Mum, other half, little one and me.

I did all the cooking and prep this year (mum usually does the Pilau) but this year it was all down to me. Got dinner on the table at 1:30pm so I think I did really well.

The menu:

starters:
seekh kebabs
tandoori mutton chops
lamb chops (2 ways)
aloo tikkis
chicken malai tikkis
chutney and salad

mains:
mutton chop pilau
koftay and anday curry

Dessert:
seviyaan (in milk)

Here’s what I did:

par-boiled the mutton chops for pilau yesterday in my trusted slow cooker
cooked my koftay anday handi last night (left adding eggs til this morning)
prepared the sheekh kebabs, malai tikkas, lamb chops all the day before. Also marinaded the peri peri chicken the night before to get maximum flavour.
par-boiled mutton chops previously and marinaded them in tandoori mixure and froze them. Defrosted them before putting them in the oven.
Cut the spring onions and tomatoes ready for my funky aloo tikkis.
Kept dessert simple-cooked it last night as was serving cold
Put drinks in fridge the night before.
Made chutney just before dinner.

On the day:
made the pilau masala-whizzed onions in processor.
added boiled eggs to koftay
grilled the starters (the aloo tikkis were fried)
baked the mutton tandoori chops and peri peri chicken
prepared the salad
made chutney

Ate a nice meal-all went well MashAllah.

What would I change next time/on the menu:

I would remove one of the chops dishes off the menu-husband likes lamb, others like mutton. I would add a cake to the desserts to give options.
Depending on who was coming to lunch/dinner, I would consider leaving out the curry dish and cook it the next day, and provide a raita to go with the pilau instead.

We don’t add chillies to our food-it’s all controlled so our little girl can eat it too. I think next time round InshAllah I would include two chutneys to add a bit of spice.

Hope everyone had a lovely Eid (or if you are in Pakistan, I hope you have a lovely Eid tommorrow-InshAllah).
