I got a machine today to replace our HP OVO Windows Management SERVER I started to dream to buy something similar. Did anyone of u ever wish to have a PC at home with these specs ? I am wishing it now.
Re: My Dream PC
Not quite there, but close enuff
Na tho why would I want something like that at HOME?
Re: My Dream PC
Holy son of mary! ![]()
Wait lemme see again…
Yup… ![]()
Re: My Dream PC
It will require a lot of power, your hydro bill can go out of the roof.
My Intel quad-pro with 4GB RAM and 1TB storage is enough. More practical, hardly using quarter of its resource at peak.
Re: My Dream PC
donate a quarter of it to me
i can use a decent system these days. ![]()
Re: My Dream PC
drn nice Najim bhai :D I wish I had a farm for my simulations :D
Oh well, my X23800+ @2.2 with 1.5 gb of ram and 500 gb HD does the same job :D It just takes a bit longer thats all :D
Re: My Dream PC
Apples RULE. Period.
Re: My Dream PC
i dont get it
Re: My Dream PC
why a home user needs a machine like this now ?
please let me know.
Re: My Dream PC
Apples RULE. Period.
Oranges too! :)
Re: My Dream PC
Lets not go bananas over all this ![]()
Re: My Dream PC
we have apples, banas, oranges if I can get some amrood(guava) and some fruit chat masala we can make nice fruit chat.:)
Re: My Dream PC
Count on it! just make sure the masala is made by Intel
Re: My Dream PC
Guys its just a wish, I dont think I'd be able to afford a 16 CPU machine as PC at home, its impossible to get a chassis for a PC for these specs & think aout the noise it will make.
Its a rack mountable server I'd be building it for specific purpose, to monitor around 3000 Windows server around Europe, so of course a high spec machine is needed, we may expand the RAM to 16 Gigs if needed in this machine. But again its just a work machine, not my own.
But in reality I have been thinking dual or quad processer machine with 4GB RAM, only because I'd use it to run virtual machines. Base OS Linux or Unix & then create couple of virtual machines. But I am too lazy to build one, so lets see when I build one.
Re: My Dream PC
WOW!!!
How much did it cost? Just curious :)
Re: My Dream PC
hnmmm,
it would be gr8 for me
cause i can use this computer to its peak for what i do
whats the price of this babe!
Re: My Dream PC
Its probably 4 x quad core processors (mine's 4 x dual core).
Najim, for monitoring you should have less powered computers in a high availability cluster. I haven't seen a monitoring software that takes that much cpu/ram. Ofcourse I haven't seen everything.
Re: My Dream PC
OK here is the environment,
4 collector server. (the one u see above is 1 of 4), processing of all the SNMP Traps & Agent messages is done locally on each of them, thats why CPU usage is around 50% or above. In case of message storm it goes upto 100%. Current 4 CPU machines are not able to handle message stroms & usually crash (CPU Bottle neck situation). Of course MsSQL is running on the boxes too. Each collector has around 3000 Boxes each to monitor since EMEA (Europe Middle East Africa) & AMIS (Americas) are back up of each other.
These 4 collectors proccess everything to MOM (Manager of Managers) (two HP-UX Clustered boxes). MOMs are 4 CPU, 16 GB HP-UX boxes. Our 4 Unix Collectors however are 8 CPU 16 GB Ram boxes and they do get bottle neck situation.
The reason we have to use High spec machines is because high number of clients, plus if u know how HP OVOW MMC works on Windows servers u would know why do we need high spec machine, keeping in mind that server has around roughly 3000 nodes in it.
I usually take care of Unix side of stuff, but of course being incharge I have to take care of windows stuff too at times.
Re: My Dream PC
Dang, my head is hurting reading all of the above. :)
