I usually use my makeup removing towels from Ponds and then wash with water. But now my face is looking grimey. The last time I used facewash, I had a really bad reaction to it. I’m not sure why since it was the brand I’d been using for several years without any problems.
On a whim i bought 3 different cleansers this weekend, Aveeno skin brightening daily scrub (came with a free daily moisturizer!!) and Aveeno clear complexion foam cleanser. and **Olay total effects anti-aging cleanser. **. I have normal to dry skin, and, well, naturally I’m SCARED to try any of em for fear of a bad reaction. I’ve herad great things about Cetaphil but they didn’t have a formula for dry skin, only oily skin.
5 AM on a monday morning probably won’t be the best time to test-drive these, i’m sure…so whassa girl to do :S
aveeno brightning scrub is just ba-kaar. it feels good to put on face but didn't brighten my skin.
i think u go slow. start with aveeno cleanser. use only lil bit of face wash n wash quickly. giv it a day or two then try again until ur skin gets used to it. n these daily scrubs really don't use them daily or u'll feel like a peeled potatoe...atleast i did.
I usedt o use Dove's exfoliating wash...not everyday but every other day.. and had no problems for years. but afer using it i had a bad reaction recently..
So just a general Q, are those gentle-enough-for-everyday exfoliating cleansers really meant to be used everyday or only sometimes???
depends on how sensitive ur skin is Sara. as i said when i used daily scrub it was too much for my skin. so buy stuff for sensitive skin. if u hav stuff for normal to dry skin then start with less quantity, more diluted form and as ur skin adjusts to the product u can increase the quantity n usage. or try a natural product if ur skin has gone too sensitive.
I love the Neutrogena Deep Clean Nightly Cleanser. First I use the wipes to remove the makeup and then I use the cleanser! It gives a great clean feeling.
I cannot use Nutrogena, my face goes all red for hours :( even with the gentle ones for sensitive skin.... but I have tried Aveeno's foam washes and scrubs without any reactions. Give the Aveeno foam a try.
I LOVE "The Body Shop"'s face washes, they are awesome and I have never had reactions with any of them. My skin is sensitive and oily, so I use Tea Tree oil one the most. If you hadn't spent all that money on these three, I would have said go get one from Body shop for your skin type.
Sara, if you have sensitive skin (i am sorry if you dont and i am assuming), then why dont you avoid these Aveeno shaveeno and use a plain white Dove soap bar? Or maybe some baby brand like J&J?
I had been on Accutane and Tazorac in the earlier part of this year and the combination of these two drugs made my skin super sensitive and dry. The cleanser that I was using before going on these medications was meant for oily skin and began irritating everytime I used it. I did a bit of research and switched to Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk and it worked wonderfully. Skin feels soft, dewy, and moisturized everytime I use it ( yes, even though I am off the medication, I continue to use it until I get the cleanser Chanda recommended).
So yeah, try it! Since it's available in Sephora, you can get a sample before buying the bottle.
i wudn't classify my skin as "Sensitive", its a tad drier..but otherwise its fine. its just i've been having a few reactions this past year, and I'm not sure why. I dont want to ruinit any more.
I am intrigued by this... and it says that we can use either almond oil to cleanse our face or mix castor oil with another oil and use that to cleanse our face... how would you go about doing that... I mean would you take a dime size and slather it all over your face, wouldn't your face remain oily....sorry for being blonde but I don't see how this works....can any of you ladies explain this step by step I would like to try it on my super dry skin...and also to remove stubborn makeup that makes me not want to wear any coz I have to scrub so hard to get it off..
i use baby oil mixed in my face wash to take off any extra makeup (rubbing it in) and it works great.. wash your face again with just the cleanser if there are any traces of oil...

Use Cetaphil Cleanser, I have not heard a single person getting allergic from it and my dermatologist strongly recommended it when I had major skin issues with adveres reactions to different products.
