At last I have gone to the jeweler to have my diamond ring repaired. He told me that the setting is really too broken to fix, that I’d likely lose the diamond again if he just repaired it. So he suggested a new setting.
So he opens his book of settings and I saw this stunning setting with 3 diamonds in it. My hubby gave me diamond stud earrings as a wedding gift but I never wear them. Would it be a mean thing or insulting to him if I got this new setting and used the earrings for it? I’d like to have more use of these lovely things…but I dont want to hurt his feelings. I could just get the same setting as before. but this new setting is just so pretty.
It's a very common practice among desi women in Pakistan to replace the old jewelry with the new one.. in your case, it just sounds more practical, you should rather have something that you would wear almost all the time than just keeping it in the box forever.
It's not gonna hurt his feelings.. I would be surprised if he actually remembers those studs after all these years. j/k!

anyways i dont see anythng "wrong" with it, if u don't wear them at all right now but will wear the ring, its not a bad thing to go for. and what gtg said, women in pak do it all the time.....
I did - this morning before I actually ordered the new setting, I told him that the old setting is too damaged and should be replaced and would he mind if I added my earrings to the new setting...he didnt give half a rats arse lol....he said whatever makes you happy. :) So while I will not have the exact ring that he gave me, I still have the diamond and the diamonds from the earrings that I never get to wear ... and will wear them all every day!
I went back to the jeweler and ordered it! Will post photos next week when it comes in
yes i did just that PCG...once i read a couple of positive responses, i got the impression that i'd likely not hurt his feelings....I just didnt want to plow into the whole thing if its generally felt that it would hurt his feelings. And it didnt....like I said, he could give a rats arse lol! He's just happy that I found it, will fix it and will enjoy it even more. GEM of a guy! (IMHO lol) But if the general response was that I'd look greedy or ungrateful etc etc...then I'd have had second thoughts kwim?
