thank goodness i have 54.0 mbps if i use the wireless but if u plug in to LAN then its 100. mbps

na bro.. thats just the maximum speed it can handle.. actual speed is determined by doing an online speed test like this one: Speakeasy - Speed Test

well im sure of you paid the bills, you would know why too......understand from his point maybe he cutting some things that are mere luxuries...your lucky you got a comp and net connection, he coulda cut the entire internet connection and told you to go to the net caf....

And there was a time when i considered 3 kb/s download to be heaven.

Thats 0.024 mbps.

i took the speed test on the uni connection and this is what came up

Download Speed: 5265 kbps (658.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 845 kbps (105.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

yea it actually is

it is DSL

and i have 1 mbps but i get speeds upto 210 kb's/s on torrents and direct downloads

so i guess its a 2mbps

at night it goes faster though :D

pretty good i pay 1200/month for it flat :D

Nice. I remember visiting i think it was Warid Telecomm office and they had this poster advertising DSL. The cost was like Rs.2500/Month or something like that. So, do you get different packages with higher speeds too or is it just one for all?

warid telecom is a cellular service provider company
they dont provide DSL, although the same people that have warid have a ISP called wateen which provides internet vis wi-max
noone likes it though cuz their unlimited bandwidth package is too expensive. the cheaper ones are like 2gb/month lol

i use PTCL which is the best in pakistan these days

there are 1/2/4mbps packages
1mbps -1200
2mbps -2000
4mbps -5000

i get 2mbps speeds on my 1 mbps package though for some odd reason :konfused:
its good though their service
since most of the pakistan phone network is based on copper wiring so more than 4mbps is pointless

although they have started a fibre optics network, i m on it right now

when i was in USA back in 2003 i used road runner cable internet and that was also 2mbps so its all good :smiley:
