My D day is Jan 15th!

Hello All,

This is my very first post on Gup Shup forum, but i have been a regular viewer since some months now and I really enjoy it

Well, I live in Abu Dhabi and am getting married in Karachi InshaAllah. The preparations are under going… to give you all a brief, I’ve got the shaadi and valima dresses… I’m wearing white with red work on shaadi and cyan and fawn work on the valima… both the outfits were chosen by my in-laws… i guess the valima one is like a rajistani sharara.. whereas the shaadi one was as per my liking (halka kaam, etc :p)

I also have got the wedding cards printed… and yeah it was a hectic job… I dont know, my friends say I was a bit too freaked out abt my wedding card.. but i think isnt it normal?! hehe

One of the thing that is undone is the menu and the mehdi hall setting and decision on what my sisters are going to wear :stuck_out_tongue: hehe…

So yeah basically, i would require suggestions on any of the above, I’m looking for different dishes in menu.. I am thinking of including couple of soup choices, diff kinds of salad.. what about sweets? and at the same time the menu needs to be different from the two functions we are organizing (mehndi and shaadi)…

For the mehdi setting, i’m thinking of a jhoola for me to sit on… my fiance and I are most probably not going to sit together… so gimme sum interesting ideas on the seating arrangements… doesnt have to be jhoola… and yeah I was also thinking, should i wear a ghoonghat.. well in my family my mom tells me that i have to (i guess) but im thinking of a mordern way of doing it!

And yes, as I’m waering sharara on both the event, i chose to wear a gharara for my mehdi… my sisters are planning to wear saree on valima i guess and sharara on shaadi… and now they are thinking of wearing a gharara too for the mehndi… but I was thinking wouldnt then my gharara fade out (also knowing that I’ve made it a lil simple)… i know other options are chooridaar, pishwaas… do u guys think i shud allow them to wear their ghararas (just to note, both the sisters are elder and married :P) …

Well, thats all what my mind is thinking now… and u all can imagine that yes it thinks a lot… just wanted to introduce myself and hope we all have a nice time on gup shup!

(dont know if this will get edited as its too long… )

**Salaam ! Welcome and Congratz =)

For the mehndi, plz yaar don't wear a ghooghat. A simple dupatta is Ok I think. The jhoola is fine.

Nhin yaar, if you're wearing a ghagara on your mehndi then your sis shouldn't wear a ghagara too, you have to look a little different. Well that's my opinion.

Khair, Congratz again,

Allah Hafizzz+++

Re: My D day is Jan 15th!

have chicken soup on your menu! if wedding is in jan, it will be cold and everyone will enjoy chicken soup.

Re: My D day is Jan 15th!

Have your sisters decided about their mehndi outfits?

well... they have not yet decided as the eldest sis is due to come on nov 25 from toronto... but the latest is that she is wearing a white gharara on baraat (P.s: I'm wearing a white sharara with red work on baraat - being the bride!) ...
So lets c wat gets decided... my family is trying to convince me same colours dont matter etc... dont know.. ive got some reservations...
