My company sells liquor...I need help

I wanted to discuss this for a long time.

I was watching Dr. Zakir naik’s program & he said that 10 people are cursed.

Those who sell it
Those who serve it
Those who drink it
Those who buy it for others
Working in a company which brews it
Working in a company which serves it
Working in a company which sells it

I cannot recollect the other few.

The last statement is what I want to emphasise on. I worked for the liquor division around 5 years back in the same company. Now I worked in Ramadhan, the entire month. I was assigned this post, & I gladly accepted it. I learned all the names & duty free prices of all the products.

After I got my paycheck, & Ramadhan was over, I banged my car, & I had to dish out my entire months salary. Reasons - I didnt have comprehensive insurance.

Now I got superstitious that it was because I worked for the liquor department…!

It has been 3 years & a few months that Ive been working in this blue chip organization, but I dont seem to be saving.

Now I work in the IT field, but I have to fix Electronic Cash Register’s (ECRs) which are being migrated to a windows enviornment. I didnt do this project before, coz they were DOS based machines. I have migrated all these machines on a Windows enviornment, but lately I have found myself in a bad financial position. Is it my superstition or working for this company is not good…?

I mean even if I dont work on the ECRs anymore, I’ll be still managing these points through my SMS server, or my Active directory, which is a displeasure.

I mean I fix something, which brings revenue. Liquor is our major revenue & stands at the 3rd slot. This is quite disturbing.

Can some1 help me out, & what should I do. I have thought of performing Istikhara also…but on what point should I make it? What should I ask da Almighty…?

Give me a solution. I’ll give u a free Remy Martin VSOP. Jus kiddin.

:help:

Superstition is haraam. Really. So I will not comment on that line of discussion. What you should do is to research the issue of liquor and check out the evidence on which Dr Zakir based his statement. If you feel the evidence is strong, then look for work elsewhere. Else, next time drive your car a little more carefully.

:o this is a verrrrrrry broad generalization of the many types of superstitions there are................some are inherent to the personality, how do you cope with those?

Nescio a.k.a. distractor. You want to talk about superstition, start a new thread. This one is dealing with a very important issue of liquor. Have anything to contribute there?

are there any companies left that are totally devoid of any contact with alcohol? How do you cope with this?

I think you have to live in a bubble, Nes. Only that way you can get away from the EVILS of alcohol. I wonder what kind of work can you et in a bubble.

My personal opinion would be to find another job.

In a hadeeth, Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said that even when a family member finds out that his or her caretaker is selling liquor in order to earn a living, they should not touch a morsel of food he/she is providing and should take upon themselves and sustain themselves using a halal form of income.

Yours is an indirect link, but in my opinion, part of your income does come from your company selling alcohol. I would suggest consulting a few scholars and getting different opinions on this and see if they correlate with dr. Naik's.

Faisal - Is superstition really haram, shucks this is something new I found out in my religion - honestly. I never thought like this before. U will not believe it faisal but I was driving my car at 35kph which is approx 15mph. A stupid mallu driving a camry stopped in front of me, becoz he thought that a pedestrian was going to cross the road. This incident was after work, & it was 3pm in the blazing afternoon of Dubai. I was slow to react & bang. I was going home...:(....! That was my car gifted by dad, which I really did take care of & that was really sad. I did cry in the evening, coz I was blaming myself for accepting a stupid assignment.

Matty - I cannot live in a bubble, this is so inept.

Munni - I have opted to work in another airlines which also sells liquor. Now their major revenue is just becoz of the fact, they serve free liquor on all their flights. U shud see the way some Pakistanis drown themselves...Kehtay hain muft ki sharaab tau qazi bhi nahin chorta.

Munni I might go work for that airline but Im still reluctant. My biggest mistake was, when I refused an offer from Dubai Internet City, around 1& half years back, when I was called for an interview. I rejected it becoz my parents wanted me to stick here. Now I've become a lil stronger by eviction.

SalmanNY - I have asked that bum but he does not like them, Im working on it, I'll get there. Im not lazy. I personally believe ur, answer has a strong suggestion of me really kickin my butt.

zman - What should I ask Him..."Please finish all traces of alcohol from DDF"...?

rukhsarbibi - There are other departments, from where I might be getting all of my income from. My main problem is that if Im "fixing" an ECR or managing a network, which eventually does manage to bring in liquor revenue, then I guess, all of my income is diluted into a thin crispy paper of 1000 dh notes, which crumble even before I can enjoy them.

Its summer here in Dubai, & most of the government organizations have vacancies, because a lot of structural revamps are done during this time. Let me see what I can find. Im all dried out.

we sold our store cuz we didnt wanna sell alcohol and without it the sale was going down

u have to look for an alternative asap....
