It says so right in the travel guidelines. It says that the following countries are at risk of war and dangerous, and travel is not allowed to them. Pakistan is one of those countries.
Only the Middle East/Asian division people are allowed to travel there from what I hear.
And this is not some small no name company either. I wonder what other companies have such policy.
^^Nah!! not at all....and if u arent a gora...the better...and even if its a gorey..they just have to stay away from Alakqa-e-ghair...(nwfp)..they'll be fine...Staying in urban areas much better too..
I have travelled the most dangerous areas of Pakistan and I have survived! I have never feared for my life in Pakistan and nor have I ever felt threatened!

Its all BS. Pakistan is no different than any other country in that region. Big cities and urban centres are quite safe. Some tribal and distant areas require that one is accompanied by some sort of security.
Our company has business travel restrictions on traveling to Pakistan. That does not mean that business travel is not allowed but means that risk factors need to be mitigated before travel. For people going to Pakistan for personal reasons, there is no restriction but detailed security risk analysis is available on our intranet for all to view and follow. The detailed security risk analysis is available for each and every country we operate in.
Most major companies follow the US government travel advisories to make their own travel policies. This is guided by Company's insurance policies. If you travel to Pakistan on business and die there in a bomb blast (God forbid) your family can sue the Company for recklessly endangering your life. Thats why if a country is in the US government travel advisory, non-necessary travel to that country for business purposes is stopped. Required travel needs special permission. You can travel for personal reasons, but if you inform your employer about the travel, more than likely they will provide you a copy of travel advisory, just to save their arses in case something goes wrong. This is all standard operating procedure (SOP). Nothing against your Company or Pakistan.

Get a Pakistani passport too, mate. My company has similar policy, but I told them I am Pakistani myself & showed them my beautiful green passport - the air ticket was ready by the end of day. Free flight - free local travel, free food, since I stayed at home they didn't have to pay for hotel. It was more like holidays for me than business trip because the only thing I had to do is attend three meetings, one in LHE, one in KHI & one in ISB. Rest of the time - main nay apni Amma kay goday dubanay main guzara. :D It doesn't matter for you how dangerous PK can be, yet its not any dangerous for you. BTW, yesterday I was sitting in IBM & two of their managers returned from Karachi a day before (both goray) & strangefully they said they will go again on private trips since they liked it too much there and would like to see rest of Pakistan.

This is something that I have seen very often. Goray who have never been to Pakistan will tell you all kinds of stories about how dangerous it is to go there. On the other hand, if a Gora has been to Pakistan, he/she will almost certainly have positive memories about those trips. I know quite a lot goray who have travelled to Pakistan and I have yet to meet one who didn't like it and didn't want to go there again.
I have met just one gora who had been to Pakistan and in fact didn't want to go back there ever again.. I was very surprised since he was interviewing me for an internship position in Pakistan and started telling me nasty stories of his stay in Karachi early 90's.. I was just speechless, needless to say..I never went back for the second interview and enjoyed my Summer in Pakistan without any internship. :D
