ok guys, i have a question about my broken cd player (how to fix it)
i know what the problem is, i just don’t know how to solve it, so hopefully you smart guppies can help me
i have included pictures (they are not the best quality, i took them with my cell)

Spend the $10 and buy another CD player (I'm assuming its the CD player from your PC). Or if you are near NY let me know and i'll drop one by.

no, its not from my computer and i'm not near ny :(
and i don't really need it and i don't need another one, i just want to know if i can fix it or if i should chuck it in the trash

You just need one small cutter and soldering iron to solder this cable, your drive would be ready to work again within 10-15 mins

WMC, do you care to explain what you are trying to do? If its a critical CD drive then this thread has merit, if its just a run of the mill cd-rom drive then throw it out.

it is just a regular portable cd player… the kind you put batteries in and hook up your headphones

who said soldering iron will not work? :halo:Cookie if i was in your place, i would have fixed this problem within 10 mins. i’ve fixed this kind of cable problems many times but here you don’t know how to use cutter/blade or soldering iron so you better call any techincal banda otherwise lene ke dene par jaayenge

hollowman, could you please explain how to do it… i have a soldering iron, blade all that and i’m pretty good at using them, i just don’t know how to fix this type of cable
i don’t want to contact technical person, because the cd player is not worth much anyway

how about using a conductive ink marker, and a strong adhesive tape..

Using a cutter blade, split each ribbon connector open. Once both ends have been split open, using your fingertips twist the corresponding ribbon connectors on either ends into a fine plait. Put a small globe of silicon sealant on it and let it dry in air.
