WMC, do you care to explain what you are trying to do? If its a critical CD drive then this thread has merit, if its just a run of the mill cd-rom drive then throw it out.

hollowman, could you please explain how to do it… i have a soldering iron, blade all that and i’m pretty good at using them, i just don’t know how to fix this type of cable
i don’t want to contact technical person, because the cd player is not worth much anyway
Using a cutter blade, split each ribbon connector open. Once both ends have been split open, using your fingertips twist the corresponding ribbon connectors on either ends into a fine plait. Put a small globe of silicon sealant on it and let it dry in air.
