I guess due to economy people are networking left and right , that is why he requested me to be added as a friend. I have more connections in the industry, I am in, than he does. Seriously, he knows that and he gets the taste of it everyday. I do not want to bother you with details. Today his boss sent a memo to the team praising me as an asset to the company because of those connections and how I leverage them to carry out my responsibilities. I do not want to bother you with those details again.
May be my boss thinks that those connections of mine would be on my FB , 
but they are not . 
:aq: Is it a chance that today that memo went out and today he sent that friends request ? Again I have nothing to hide but I think it is not a good idea to have your boss on your facebook . What do you all say ?

btw mirch...i put my profile where no one can search me and also not even can add me as friend. :D the least they can do is message me :D

alot of my mother in law's employees added her when she joined facebook. i think a few of them searched her name and found her but she hasn't added anyone because she wants to keep her personal life seperate from that of work. i agree with that because facebook for me personally is more about communicating with my family and close friends, it would be awkward for me to add someone who i work with. i have seen alot of gossip happening as it is in workplaces, there's no need to add more to it.
U better be careful, once i was declared an asset for the company by our chairman & MD, and my immediate boss turned against me as i was posing threat to his job and title…
I have my ex-boss on FB, but not the current one. :)
Mirch , from experience I can say its not a good idea to add colleagues and specially boss on your facebook account ...
I have two seperate accounts , one for family and friends and the other for business friends ... in the business account , I try to remain formal and very much away from opening up to the dangerous limit ...
Previouly friends were in the same account and I would be joking around with one of my cousins and the news would be out in the office with colleagues discussing it ...they get to know too much about your private life and thats dangerous and can be used against you at any time.

I do the same thing…well sort of:D.There are some people like my siblings and some close cousins on both.Now lines are blurring…its hard to manage both.I make comments on photos and stuff from both…mostly one and now my doorh ke rishtedar keep on sending me friend request.
I was going to ask the same thing Mirch:cb:…My question wasn’t on the Boss but would be bosses. If I start a new one for them only…it would look so empty:hmmm:

Create a limited profile on facebook exclude your wall and picture albums and then add him.

If you don't have one already, open a LinkedIn account and invite him to it. IMO, LinkedIn is more for professional networking and Facebook for social :)

what the hell .. GS mein itney multi hain to why not make a multi facebook account too .. give ur boss the fake one … where u have no record of absolute anyting ..and tell him ur not a regular user of fb but i ll add ya anyway .. even if he checks ur profile photos contacts etc .. there will b nothing to see ..

Adding colleagues is ok i guess if you’re close.. but your current boss?? No matter how close you are to your boss…I think it’s a big no.. unless you add him on a limited profile setting… but then he’ll know you’ve done that to him cos he won’t be able to see some parts of your profile… so then he’ll think you’re hiding something…
My solution:- Ask him to add you on LinkedIn instead (the professional version of facebook)… keep facebook for friends and family where you can be yourself… and LinkedIn for professional networking

That's what I was going to say. Do you have a Linkedln account? If not make one, and keep your boss there, esp if he wants to use your networking...etc.
That way you won't be sharing anything personal at all.

how do i setting my profile not to be search my name? i check in setting profile and it is not there. then i typed my name and it shows my name in search list.
