I have had my baby girl-she was born on the 24th but we were both in hospital so couldn’t update you guys. Anyhow, we are Mashallah both fine and would like tothank everyine iver the last few months for their advice and support.
So basically I have a problem-naming baby. We have a name but my husband is convinced that the names don’t go together.
Other names that have been suggested and out ruled are:
Manoor-with a Midlands accent can sound like ‘Manure’ (not good me thinks).
Ayman-although it’s unisex it sounds very masculine (I know I’m being fussy).
My reasoning for the names are:
Hira-because of it’s religious context (family say it sounds old but I think it’s a great name with meaning. They also don’t like it because such and such has a granddaughter who lives in another country to us with the same name and it wouldn’t be nice-erm okay).
Aiza-I was led to believe this is the name of Hazrat Ali’s (R.A.) daughter but cannot find solid evidence thus would prefer it as a middle name. It’s my husband’s favourite too.
It’s quite important to me that baby has a name that isn’t a fashion statement, rather has a Islamic background. Maybe my hormones are making me sensative but I have out ruled all names with no meaning or are currently charting high within new names for babies.
So I’m thinking Hira Aiza Khattak (her father is pathan, and although his surname isn’t Khattak, it’s either that or Khan which he doesn’t wish to use either so I’m stuck and I don’t think I should use my own surname).
Oh and before I forget, is it quite common for people to use their first name as their child’s surname? My husband wants to use his name (Abid) as baby’s surname and I’ve never heard of it as a surname?
I don’t want anyone to laugh/make fun of my baby an their name at Inshallah School etc.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks again folks, all the advice from you all was very helpful.
I would post a thread on getting ready for being induced etc on here but I’m not sure if all the details would be suitable for posting on here? My birth wasn’t straight forward, and had various complications, so thought maybe a post on what happend and how I dealt with it maybe better/helpful for others.
