My all-time Pakistan team

  1. Hanif Mohammad
  2. Majid Khan
  3. Zaheer Abbas
  4. Javed Miandad
  5. Asif Iqbal
  6. Mushtaq Mohammad
  7. Imran Khan
  8. Moin Khan
  9. Wasim Akram
  10. Abdul Qadir
  11. Waqar Younis
  12. Sarfraz Nawaz

Some glaring omissions tell me you are in your teens or early 20s, which is why the only names u included from the pre 1980 era are Hanif Muhammad and Mushtaq Muhammad. The list is very good, but for it to be an All time team, you have to include several others.
Moin Khan? what about Wasim Bari?
How about Nazar Muhammad? Mudassar Nazar? Saeed Anwar?

I left out Wasim Bari, because I consider batting to be more important than specialist ability as a keeper.
Moin is competent enough with the gloves and averages 28.85 with the bat to Bari's 15.88.

Nazar Muhammad, Mudassar Nazar, Saeed Anwar - I considered them and more.

Who would you remove from my team to make room for these three anyway?
I'd take Majid in his prime over Saeed any day.

Do you think that it was all your team????
Who was the one who set up the bowling line up and most of your team?????
I am just being a smart ass Suhail!!!!
But what about taking out Asif and getting Javed Burki as the other batsman.

     1. Hanif Mohammad
     2. Majid Khan
     3. Zaheer Abbas
     4. Javed Miandad
     5. Asif Iqbal
     6. Mushtaq Mohammad
     7. Imran Khan
     8. Moin Khan
     9. Wasim Akram
     10. Abdul Qadir
     11. Waqar Younis
     12. Sarfraz Nawaz

majid in his prime could`nt even lace Saeed's boots.i like the others though.

The subject of wicketkeeping can be open to debate. However, i think that if my batting line up is as strong as I want it to be, I would prefer a better keeper over an average keeper whos a better hitter. And yes, Saeed Anwar is better than Majid in his prime. And even though he doesnt have many years under his belt, I would be inclined to put in Saqlain Mushtaq as a spinner. And Waqar Younis has seen his two minutes of fame. He doesnt have longevity.

mine is
Saeed
Afridi
Javed
Zaheer
Rameez
Imran
Mohin
Akram
Saqi
Waqi
Sarfaraz
Qadar

i still love Afridi

Akif,
At his best Waqar was the most devastating bowler in the world.

Even now after several lackluster performances his strikerate is second to none
and his average is better than Wasim's.

Good point about the keeper not needing to
be as good a batsmen in such a strong lineup.
But I don't feel that Wasim Bari was
that great. I'd still pick Moin.

Suhail..
Your point about Waqar might be right, but i believe u need longevity to be included on an all time team. Yes, in his prime Waqar was devastating, but his prime didnt last very long. For that matter, u can include Shoaib Akhtar as well. His prime has him bowling at 100 mph, but how long do u think he will last trying to outmeasure speedguns? With his approach to the game, he will be on the sidelines with a sore shoulder or bad back in no time. Longevity is needed.

Jaslin...
Afridi??? afridi who?
Ramiz??? only if you are playing a 10 day match, in which ramiz will give you 9 days at the crease and be at 43 not out.
Yours is more like a team of your favs...not the best ones. :)

Akif,

Only 15 bowlers in the history of cricket
have taken more than Waqar's 279 test wickets.

The only Pakistanis to take more
are The Khan and Was and they're already
on my team.

Who deserves a place in the all-time team
over Waqar?
Who's going to deliver inswinging yorker
after inswinging yorker at 90+ with a strikerate less than 42?

Look Akif - Wasim and Waqar are what Haynes and Greendige were for the West Indies.
They are the Jeff Thompson and Dennis Lillees of the Paki team.
They are very similar to Walsh and Ambrose.
No team has a duo like us.
Aussies and SA wish they had our bowlers.
India, NZ, and SL wish they had bowlers.
Wasim and Waqar are both in.
If waqar is out who would you put into the team?????????

actually waqar is a great bowler, no doubt. however if you look at his record, he has done nothing against australia or south africa. akram has done it all. waqar has a great record against everyone else. however, that said, i would still put him in an all time list simply because of his out standing strike rate. Also, waqar has suffered a lot due to injuries including back injuries which are a nightmare for a quick bowler.
he deserves to be in an all time great list.

Suhail.
My main beef with Waqar is that he gets hit too much. Yes he gets the wickets, but what good does that do if u are gonna give up a ton of runs in return. You point about the number of wickets is right. Thats the thing about selecting all time teams. Everyone has a different criteria..Longevity, stats, individuality, personality. So the list will be different for each person u talk to. But for the most part i agree. Waqar is of course on my team...pakistans.,..and thats all that matters. I was just a bit concerned about putting him on an all time team because for the most part, we havent seen players from the 50s and 60s, and we might be doing injustice to someone, somewhere. How about Khan Muhammad? at least he was accurate as hell. Hes the bowler who killed a bird with one of his balls :)
