ISLAMABAD: On President Zardari’s directives, the Chairman of Bahria Town Malik Riaz has announced that he will provide the remaining amount required to release the crew of MV Albedo.**
After hearing appeals from the family members of the crew which were broadcast on Geo News, President Asif Ali Zardari had directed Interior Minister Rehman Malik to take all necessary steps to secure the release of the hostages.It has been over a year since 23 crew members on board the MV Albedo were taken hostage by Somali pirates.The Somali pirates had initially demanded $8 million to release the captives, but after several rounds of negotiations the amount was brought down to $2.85 million.The deadline set by the pirates was May 15, 2012.
What ever Malik Riaz is but he is running some Free dastarkhawan in Hospitals of Lahore and other cities. Chahay iss kay peechay kuch bhi hoon leekan logoon ko khana to mil raha hay na ?

3 weeks ago, Rehman Malik, Ishrat ul Ibaad and others said that the required amount had been arranged, and captives will be released in the next 2 days. Surprising that the media and the govt are quiet on this. Even the facebook page started by the daughter of the captain is static, with no updates in the past 3 weeks. Is there any update that anyone has from any source? Are the guys on their way back?

Two three days back I saw a report on this onARY news the pirates hv transferred some hostages to the land and left some on the ship in fear of some attack on ship,here authorities r saying Thai the Malaysian govt is not doing enough,on the other hand the wife of the capt fears that they might kill them that's why they hv transferred them on land...iwlsearch for the clip on YouTube !
Geo News is reporting that the Pakistani crew members of the MV Albedo have been released, and have been shifted to a safe place. No news of the other crew members. Great news. Hope for the best for other crew members as well.
