Mutton biryani in rice cooker?

Is it possible to have a ‘simplified’ version of biryani done in an electric rice cooker? Something like: http://www.cafegadgets.com/philips-rice-cooker-hd4711-p-3783.html

Recipe?

Re: Mutton biryani in rice cooker?

Kaka Balli , I think it can be done …:hmmm:

Try this technique :

Cook the rice until they are about 50 percent done .. Take them out …
In a pressure cooker , soften the mutton pieces.. then marinate those pieces in yoghurt , the usual biryani masalas , tomatoes finely chopped , green chilli, ginger garlic paste and oil … Set this in the base of the rice cooker and turn it on on low heat … after about half hour , put the layer of rice on top and sprinkle some water on them …

Fry some onions and sprinkle them on the rice layer , some color , fresh corriander .
Let it be on low heat for an hour …

I think that should make a good biryani :hmmm:

Re: Mutton biryani in rice cooker?

I just make teh masala as normal, make the rice in the rice cooker (white rice) and mix/layer them together

Re: Mutton biryani in rice cooker?

Do you think this would work:

The rice is rinsed but not soaked, or half cooked, and the marinaded chicken is put in raw. Do you think everything would be cooked properly and to the right texture?

Re: Mutton biryani in rice cooker?

with raw chicken n 50% cooked rice you can make perfect biryani, i make it this way always it takes less time n chicken is still juicy, so i think with little bit cooked meat you can make the mutton biryani in rice or pressure cooker too.
