I have heard that the Shia ulema in Iran have ok'd mutta marriages for use in infertility treatments.
For ex. if your wife has old/no eggs you can do a temp marriage whicih then allows the dr to extract eggs from your temp wife....which is then fertilzed with your sperm and put in your wife. then your temp marraige is disolved. Same goes for sperm treatment.
I think it's an interesting use of the temp marriage to resolve a present day issue....most men don't seem to want to leave their wife and it allows them to con't to try/have a child.
