It was narrated from ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade mut’ah marriage and the meat of domestic donkeys at the time of Khaybar. According to another report, he forbade mut’ah marriage at the time of Khaybar and he forbade the meat of tame donkeys.
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3979; Muslim, 1407.
Thus Mutaa is forbidden.

And who said your beliefs are authentic ???
Like it or not mutaa was practiced by the pagan Arabs before the advent of Islam and was forbidden by the Prophet (pbuh) .. it is not permissable in Islam... period.

we can talk about the beliefs if you want..atleast we dont follow the 4 imams who came so long after the Prophet (pbuh) and have no direct connection with the Prophet (pbuh)....how dumb is that people forgot about the Holy Family of the Prophet (pbuh)...and started to follow these so called Imams
This was not forbidden by the Prophet (pbuh) period..we dont believe in these contradicting books

What Sunnis mean by Imam and what Shias mean by Imam is different.
When Sunnis refer to Imam Hanafi, they do not accord as high a status to him through that title as, say, Shias accord Imam Ja'far by the title "Imam".
To Sunnis, the term "Imam" has a totally different meaning than what it means to Shias, and hence your comparison is unfair.
What was the need for these Imams when The Family was there...you do know who Imam Jafar Sadiq is right?
you guys have 4 school of thoughts...but why? how did they become more important for the muslims while the actual Family of the Prophet (pbuh) was present..that Family is so great that Allah talks about it in the Quran..yet muslims have these 4 school of thoughts..hmmmm

Could it be that the Holy Family was so much used/abused by some people for political reasons that others had to look around for other sources?
IMHO.

I'm about to go to sleep so I don't have time to answer the rest of your post, but before I left I just wanted to point out that according to the 1954 fatwa issued by Al-Azhar, there are 5 schools of thought in Islam, not 4. They are Maliki, Shafi, Hanbali, Hanafi and Jafari.
Oh, and I know that Imam Jafar Sadiq was one of the most prominent and most learned Islamic scholars living in Medina, and was directly descended from Hazrat Ali. He was also the teacher of Imam Hanafi.

Yes the Family went through alot...All of the Imams were martyred...but they still had some followers so there is really no excuse to go elsewhere..maybe the probem is that muslims just dont realize the importance of the Holy Family
The issue of Mut’ah was discussed quite extensively in an earlier discussion.

Please read that discussion. If someone still has another new question or issue, they can surely open a new thread. This thread is now closed to save all of you some time, because the same arguments are being re-hashed again and again.
In addition, it will be appreciated if all of you provide your responses on a topic backed by evidences in a mutually respectful manner, instead of calling names to others or their faith. Obviously this is for all members and not to someone in particular. Thank you.
