Re: Must locate bridal photo set
^ nahi, its a different jora
seems as if u werent satisfied with the peachy/mint one....well as long as u get that EUREKA!! this one sounds fabulous too and it goes even more with the jewelery!
I was really unsure about the colour combo, plus the fabrics we had originally decided on had completely changed. The whole look was either going to work or it wasn't, but with this, yeah...it was moe like Eureka! :)
This was the other outfit I was considering, but it’s different to the one I posted on this thread. This is just as beautiful!
Is that a farshi gharara or a lehenga?

you knw which one I absolutely adore...the one with burnt orange, red, and deep plum--those color combinations were so warm.....Think I understand wh went wrong--you've went from spring (cool, fresh colors) to the more earthy tones. From something unconventional and avant garde to the classic. Well, it all depends on you--whichever one makes u feel as if THIS IS THE ONE...is the right one. The kaam on al of these ghararas is exqisite. Are you considering long sleeves ad a long shirt now????
hmm wish Bunto had kept a photo catalog. It would be much easier to understand all of the possibilities. Even if its custom made---one can see others ppl's to know wht works on ur and wht wouldnt:)

It's supposed to be a Farshi Gharara according to Bunto...
I've already tried that process and it didn't seem to work, and for that matter it doesn't have to. They maybe catering to your taste and yes she is a respected designer, but that's no guarantee you're going to like the finished product, especially when you're spending a tidy sum. It quite simple...i've seen something that I like which she designed and with her signature style, so i'm getting it made. whether someone else has already worn the dress is of no concern to me. Don't worry, I don't think you're an ass; I can see where you're coming from..
since its cutom made--im sure she will make a design unique to each and every client. This wouldserve as a prototype...and inspiration. The embroidey can alawys change (maybe frome a "rose" embroidery to a "lily" embroidery.....The borders and motifs would change, but the dres would be in the "same family" as the one the person saw. It makes such a differece seeing things--even when they r told on paper--in a designers mind they come together amd flow--since they r so experienced and in our minds we see the connections--try to understand them with endless possibilities (thinking maybe its this way..maybe its that way)....a pic give a more "piece of mind"
When I asked Ali Fateh that I really liked a design of his--he didnt replicte it, rather the changed the stones, the color, a lil of the design here and there--was true to the orginal design but also uniquely me. I wouldnt worry abt her copying from her own designs--plagerizing ones own outfit--It always so much fun making a newer and more sensational pattern--afterall there r countless possibilies in art. Imagine a painter making the same painting again and again just because everyone loved them. You'd lose all the other fabulous creations.
I like to think of desgners as artists in a "certian art period"--remember all those lovely Giverny Japanese bridge paintings by Monet--all so alike yet so different:)

Oooh, I remember which one you're talking of; those colours were just as beautiful - perfect for an autumn wedding :)
I'm sure this is the one - I didn't feel the same when we put across our original order. The shirt will probably remain long, but i'm still thinking about the length of the sleeves..hmmm....
Bunto does keep a catalogue and i've seen it, but for some reason, they had not taken pictures of this outfit. Had I seen this outfit in the catalogue, I would have ordered something very similar there and then...
It's supposed to be a Farshi Gharara according to Bunto...
personal preference--but I like farshi ghararas more than farshi lenghas...They see more graceful and have more "ghair" and flow
Re: Must locate bridal photo set
did u send he a picture of the jewlery--maybe she could incorporate that "floral jali" pattern in the kaam:)
Re: Must locate bridal photo set
I like the description of the outfit Ziggy posted better than that one...the red gharara looks a little brash, gold jamavar is definitely better.
Re: Must locate bridal photo set
and decide on the color tones of beige/dull gold and red according to th set
but i'm still thinking about the length of the sleeves..hmmm....
I would definitely shorten the sleeves...I think her traditional elbow length sleeves are too long, let alone these 3/4 length ones (unless your SIL is super conservative).
It's definitely a beautiful dress...
Though I have to say, I would be quite annoyed if I were the original bride...part of the reason you pay at least 3 or 4 lakhs for a couture dress is because you know its completely one of a kind and unique. If Bunto's going to reproduce the design for others, it takes away a lot of the exclusivity of it all.
You know Coco Chanel loved it when her designs were copied--saying that her product is successful since its outside in the streets...everyone wants to wear it:) but I undestand from a clients point of view--One would love to have something uniquey to themselves....that Aisha Khadeeja lengha and the Amna Kardar lengha get me dizzy cuz ive seen them in so many forms--copies originals--takes te charm away from the deisgn
Re: Must locate bridal photo set
3/4 sleeves would be interesting! churriyaan look really pretty with them:)
Re: Must locate bridal photo set
I just got this email from Bunto's daughter; what do you guys thinks?
"The gharara is entirely gold and full of work! However, Bunto also suggested that you could take the gharara in red. So your shirt is gold and duppatta is gold with red pallus and the gharara could be red. Basically the picture you saw was a farshi and the bottom and the top half of the gharara were all gold. Similarly if its red then the bottom and top half will be all red. I hope that makes it clearer."

I actually love the sleeves, especially the kaam and the transparent quality it creates.

I like this idea with the red contrast--would brighten the look and not be too overpowering (since is the the entire dupattta but the pallu and the piping)....hmmmm u can even kep the pallu and shirt the same beige gold and stay with just the red pipings if u want a more subtle/softer look
