It turns out it's a Bunto Kazmi bridal and i'm thinking of replacing my original order with this one. the only problem is that they don't have a pic of the outfit, but they sent me a rough sketch of the original outfitjust to give me an idea. It sounds really gorgeous going by their description...
This outfit was made in March of this year, but they have no pictures of it whatsoever. Instead they sent me a really rough sketch (the one below) to describe the outfit to me:
Snippet from the email describing the outfit:
βI will send you a rough sketch of the jora so you can understand what it was like in terms of colours etc. We used an georgette fabric in gold for the shirt and duppatta and the gharara was gold jamavar. In the picture it appears ivory because the gold fabric we used was a dull gold. But the look was more gold than ivory. There was no red along the elbow, may be just light reflecting in the photograph. The client in question did not want any red in her outfit but Bunto insisted that it would look good on just the duppatta.β
order it! i wouldn't even bother looking for other pics, but the only thing is i'd take the red 1 yard of fabric off the ends of the dupatta and only do the piping in red.
So they know how the dress was made, what was used on it, the colors and all. They can make you one just like it and you still need pictures from GS??? I completely missed what your problem is here... pardon me.
^ If the pics are available then why not see them...I wouldn't always appreciate looking at sketches or half baked pics if I were walking into a boutique a choosing an outfit :)
its also a lot of money- it would help to know beforehand what the dress looks like in its entirety so you can fully decide whether you want to order this or not.

Yes, but you're not going into a boutique. You're going to a designer. A well-respected designer at that. They make customized things so that the dress is "you". Why then want pictures of someone else's dress to copy from when they are telling to exactly what the dress will look like??
I'm not being an ass, I'm just trying to understand what this is about??

I've already tried that process and it didn't seem to work, and for that matter it doesn't have to. They maybe catering to your taste and yes she is a respected designer, but that's no guarantee you're going to like the finished product, especially when you're spending a tidy sum. It quite simple...i've seen something that I like which she designed and with her signature style, so i'm getting it made. whether someone else has already worn the dress is of no concern to me. Don't worry, I don't think you're an ass; I can see where you're coming from..
Though I have to say, I would be quite annoyed if I were the original bride...part of the reason you pay at least 3 or 4 lakhs for a couture dress is because you know its completely one of a kind and unique. If Bunto's going to reproduce the design for others, it takes away a lot of the exclusivity of it all.
I agree...i wanted to get a dress similar to kiran bokharis.....so i showed it to the designer in dallas..she politely refused..saying 'beta we designers respect and value each other, as well as the customers and simply cannot replicate dresses..' I am sure she is going to come up with something fab....fingers crossed I had to trust her after going thru her ENTIRE wardrobe....LOL!!
ziggy..you can have bunto use this as an inspiration....i think by now she is familiar with your taste..and what you are looking for....:)
i completely get your point - i didn't even pay lakh's for my dress but i did put a lot of time, effort, research and love into designing my dress and finding the right fabric and kaam that i felt best represented me as a bride. now imagine my annoyance when i found out the lady who made my dress, also made 4 or 5 copies of it and sold it to other brides as her own design!
having said that, i don't think bunto as a designer and an old hand at all of this would make an exact knockoff for zigs. i think she would use this design as a starting point and then base the rest of the outfit on zig's bhabhi and her taste/personality/figure, etc.
yeahhh...i really liked her idea...very old fashioned vintage sort.....except her lehnga was yellow..and the outfit had green and red combo...plus her lehnga shirt was relatively short...a little too short..considering how tall she is..she could have done the long shirt and pulled it off rather gracefully....
