Re: Must Have makeup brushes
I have MAC 239.. I love love love it. I can do all of my eye makeup with this one brush. So easy to use. I do have all the other.. blending, base. this that.. but his definitely is my fav.
Re: Must Have makeup brushes
Thanks Spiral...will def. look into that brush....
Marwah, Colorful Eyes and BarbieCue ....can you guys please add your collection too?
If you already have the basic ones there really isn’t a need to buy more … but yes it is a good idea to invest in the right “tools” if you’d like your makeup to turn out well. I have very few brushes too (compared to girls I’ve seen on youtube, they not only have the whole Mac collection but they have them in different colours too!)
Anyways…
Things in** Red**, I have and I recommend :k: and these things are needed.
Things in Blue: Optional
Mac 239 eye shader brush: For putting the eyeshadow on the lid. Not too big, not too small, very strong brush, doesn’t shed, picks up the shadows amazingly! And that’s all I use to place eyeshadow on my lids! Sometimes I may use the small lil applicators that come with the kits.
Mac 217 blending brush: Excellent for blending.
^ But… a little too big sometimes (for example when you don’t want to blend your eyeshadow too far up the brow bone, this brush may be a lil too big) hence I recommend the next brush but its optional, I do just fine with one blending brush.
Mac 222 tapered blending brush. Smaller than the previous one. Excellent for crease contouring!!

Mac 219 pencil brush: Multi functional. I use it for working on the lower lash line. Also blends the kajal/eyeliner very well, gives a smokey effect.
**Mac 190 foundation brush. **
Or you may use the following foundation brush for a flawless coverage.
**Mac 187 Duo Fibre Brush. **
Mac 208 angled brow brush. Its good to have one.
Mac 168 large angled contour brush: Great to have if you contour your cheek bones a lot or wear bronzer. Its not of much use on a daily basis. Can use it for blush too.
I use some cheap, artist brushes for my makeup too. You don’t always have to go for Mac. I have packets upon packets of art brushes that I bought when I was in school, they come in all sizes n shapes. Not very good for eyeshadows but I use one as my eyeliner brush. Works perfect. And I also use one for lipstick brush, lip lining etc. Works great!
And I use a fat brush i bought from the body shop as a powder brush for the face.
Mac brushes are really the most trusted ones for eyeshadows but for the rest of the makeup, you can buy cheaper brands too.
And that’s pretty much all you’ll need unless you’re a makeup artist.

Kidding. You’re welcome! I’m glad it helped.

Re: Must Have makeup brushes
oops sorry for the name confusion :P...
Just looked at the prices, Mac's def. going to empty my wallet hehe
I blv Shu Uemura and Bobbi Brown have better make-up brushes. They have a short handle which is perfect if you're going to be using it on yourself. The larger handles are for professional MUA's keeping the distance in mind between them and the client. You have more control with a shorter handle as well.
The brushes are soft and can be washed easily, and they last!
Re: Must Have makeup brushes
I have most of the MAC brushes. Going to start trying Bobbi Brown ones now.
Re: Must Have makeup brushes
i use coastal scents brushes, i am impressed with their softens and how they work for me
