Ladies,
What are the “must have” MAC eyeshadow colors?
Also, how many eyeshadows is a good number to have in your makeup kit? (i’m a starter and don’t really wear eyeshadow day to day- only on special occasions!)

I'd say shroom (beige), mulch (sparkly brown), trax (sparkly purple/brown), and amber lights (gold) and then a darker color for a smoky eye - whether dark dark blue, black or brown.

ok so funny that someone started this post.. because i went on a website (forgot which one) and they were highly recommending "woodwinked" for desi skin tones.. and im not that into eyeshadow.. i like buying main, neutral colors that i can just apply all over and run out of the house... but ive always heard wonders about MAC eyeshadows and ive had a problem of eyeshadows not showing up or sliding off (i tend to get greasy eyelids).. so i got myself an eyeshadow primer and woodwinked and LOVEDDD how it looked on me!! the first time i wore it, i got 2 compliments during a party i went to, and one was from my very good friend who is also a bridal make-up artist! the eyeshadow is so cool, i only applied that one shade, and it looked like i had done the different shades in the crease.. so after this experience, i want to go and buy more MAC eyeshadows cuz i think they are worth the money!!
Anyway, so I did some more research and found what pple reviewed to be the top MAC eyeshadows... i dont remember where i got this info from (who knows, maybe it was from one of the posts on GS.. lol) but here is the info i found... and u can bet im going to run out and get all of these (well most of them anyway) insha'Allah!............

[FONT=Times New Roman]Shroom eyeshadow is a soft, lightly shimmered beige color. It is great for an all-over wash on the lid for the ultra neutral look, but it also makes for an excellent brow bone highlighter for just about any look. It is an essential for any one looking for neutral shadows.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Ricepaper eyeshadow is a smooth, shimmery peachy beige that can instantly brighten your look. It’s great to highlight the brow bone or the inner tear duct, and of course, it makes an awesome lid color, too.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Wedge eyeshadow is a matte, muted taupe. Mattes make for excellent neutral colors, because they can be used in so many ways. They’re perfect for giving any look more depth when used in the crease, and the contrast between finishes is often one way to add complexity to your look, too.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Bronze eyeshadow is a rich, deep chocolate-bronze shade with lots of shimmer. It’s gotta be one of my favorite shades of all-time, and I am constantly using it. It works well with other browns and neutrals, but it is easily paired with golds and greens, too. It’s a versatile shade with so much color pigmentation — I can’t imagine anyone not loving it.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Smut eyeshadow is a deep brown-black with subtle red-tones and shimmer. It’s not overly shimmery, but it can be noticeable, depending on whether you’ve used other shimmer shadows, too. I like it for a deep, noticeable crease, and I think it’s excellent for smokey eyes, too. It’s a nice go-to for something less whoa! like a black eyeshadow, but it offers more than just “dark brown.”
[FONT=Times New Roman]Soft Brown eyeshadow is a matte, warm-toned medium brown. It has a little bit of peachiness to it, which makes it a nice way to brighten up any neutral look. The texture and color are superb, and Soft Brown is a huge favorite for me.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Woodwinked eyeshadow is a warm, medium-to-dark shimmering brown. It’s got a bit of antique gold in its coloring, which kicks up the color a notch. This is an extremely flattering color for most complexions, and it’s a very pretty shade. It works well with most shadows, and it’s smooth and blendable.
Cork eyeshadow is a matte, soft medium brown. It’s not too warm-toned, which is a huge reason why it’s recommended. A lot of browns can be very warm in tone, so having one that’s more neutral in your set is a great way to add more variety to your looks

i just like their pigments, and paint pots. none of their eyeshadow impress me much. i have urban decay's shadows and none of MAC's shadows seems as nice as urban decay

btw- i was looking for MAC stuff on ebay...and it seems like there is a lot of counterfeit/fake MAC products being sold too. Has anyone encountered that? Since I'm no expert...how do you know if its fake or real?

Agree with people on Woodwinked... definitley a must have! MAC eyeshadows are amazing for blending... I like to blend Woodwinked with Cranberry. Also love

unfortunately, YES, i've encountered it. you know the MAC pigments are fake when they're labeled as numbers or have no name. real MAC pigments have names. first of all, only purchase something from a user who has very good ratings, make sure the pigment is named, and make sure the packaging is original.

marwah, does the reflects antique gold glitter fall off easily? how do you make it stay on the lid to look more like a shadow as opposed to a glitter? just curious as to how you use it...

My favorite mac color has been electric eel. Its shocking blue, but it can be toned down or as shocking, as you want it to be.
