with so many new mommies and many who are expecting soon iA…lets come up with a list of must have items for a new baby (items that you will need up until the baby is a year or so old)
what are some of the items you must absolutely buy and should have before you have your baby?
what are some items that you would put in your baby registry?
I've seen all the other threads related to this topic. But this new one should have all the new info..
So far for me the most important thing is stroller and crib.
I am sure I want snap n go and a car seat seperately.
I have nice list my doc's office gave me. I'll type it here when I have time.
What's a convertible car seat? Is it bulky? Does it work with stroller frame?
I got the bouncer before the baby was born and stroller/crib/car seat after mainly from the money the baby got as gift
But I would highly recommend having the baby bag packed for the hospital early, (mine came 2 weeks before), I didn't buy bottles and my parents had to rush and buy them at midnight and sterilize them. Also have everything related to diaper changing, changing sheet/stock of diapers/wipes before hand.
There are lots more, I'm sure others will add to the list
I'd suggest mums-to-be make a list of items they need, and a list of items they would like to have but can survive without.
Then I'd buy all the items off the must have list at least by week 32!
If you plan to breastfeed, you may wish to consider items bf related, and make a list of them and purchase them after baby arrives in case it doesn't work out.
My baby is inshallah due soon, and for me the stroller that is convertable (with the carseat) is a must item for those who have cars with small boots.
Baby grows, vest and terry nappies, muslin squares are all musts too. A baby bag packed and ready to go is a fab idea too. We plan to use resusable nappies from two points of views-my mum used them and I hardly got a nappy rash plus it's less rubbish for the bin. And of course there is a financial gain-it works out cheaper.
Midwives in England inform you of what items you need for the hospital-you often learn you need to take maternity pads etc with you. If you plan to breastfeed you do not take bottles as if you cannot breastfeed the hospital provide sterilises bottles and formula milk for your stay.
For the baby you'll need the basics ofc! Carseat is a must as they wont let u leave the hospital without it, I recommend u getting a snap n go instead of a stroller for the first nine months .. its easier and much more convinient.
A crib or a bassinet, unless you plan to co-sleep .. which isnt recommended.
Other things for the baby may include:
Swing- LIFE SAVER!!! Trust me on this, you'll wanna invest in a swing!! It kept me sane, made my crying baby stop crying when nothing else worked
Boppy pillow or My breast friend- For giving support while bf'ing .. it takes soooo long to breastfeed .. you'll need the support
Breastpump- If you're returning to work
PLaymat- Although u wont use it until baby is around 2 months .. my 3 month old loves it :D
Diaperbag and everything that goes in it (DIapers, wipes, bottles etc)
Baby bathtub
Highchairs, bouncers and toys you can buy later .. im gonna buy the highchair next month when she starts solids.
For you:
Nursing bra's!!! Must have!
Breast pads! Your breast will leak like crazy the first month atleast.
Lanolin, incase you have cracked nipples (I know i did)
Make sure you have painkillers in ur med cabinet, for the cramps when u bf! (It hurts so bad)
You dont need to buy everything b4 baby comes, just the basics .. you can always get whats left afterwards :) Good luckkk
