Its not like indian muslims are one monolithic entity. Maybe within the UP cow-belt, such sentiments exist of needing to be anti-pakistani to be accepted. But in other parts, they get the same media as any other indian does, and dont have any cause to like pakistan particularly. its not like pakistan’s actions are something to look up to or want to associate with when india seems to be doing better at most things (at least according to the media 
).

Apart from North India, what areas in India got sizable Muslim population?
Its not about Indian Muslims look towards Pakistan because it is doing good or bad as compared to India, its about how they are told that they belong to Pakistan. Isn’t that irony that inspite of having a narrative which did not accept division of country based on religion, Indian Muslims are linked with Pakistan, just because of sharing same religion.

Communalists and ultranationalists, bhakts of political parties just need opportunity pass such statements. Liberals and alikes strogly condemn these. The word secular was added in preamble of the constitution in 1977, but India was secular since Independence. A secular country means State shall not promote any religion over other religions eg State shall not translate and publish Gita, Quran and other religious books. It can make laws on customs, practices attached to religion, can interfere in matters of religion eg temple entry, abolition of Sati Pratha, polygami, child marriage. It shall give freedom to profess their religion. A secular country may have pressure groups, communal parties, liberals, communists etc. When you call a country secular you can't expect all it's citizenry secular. Majority of Indians are certainly not communal/fundamental or extremist. Pakistan is an Islamic country does not mean minority would be or bound to be in miserable condition.

Should give you a good idea of the distribution of muslims in India. Most dont have to deal with the hindutva sorts of the cow belt that call them Pakistani.

If a group of people spreads hatred, talks rubbish I can't assume all are asking them to leave. Few person asked Amir khan to leave and whole social media like twitter, fb, newspaper editorials in India flourished opposing/condemning such statements.

i would say incidents like picking on Amir Khan and SRK are a direct result of hindu nationalists feeling empowered under Modi. simple as that. and modi sarkar is trying its best to replace every single institution they can with pro-hindutva clowns. a B-grade pornstar is now the prestigious FTII's chairman. slowly but surely, india is headed back to the dark ages.

It's not like just because sharing same religion. Bangladesh also shares same religion. What they say is like 'if you have so much problem with India and living in India, you can choose to go to Pakistan (as Partition was based on Hindu majority and Muslim majority areas) like those opted at the time of Partition.' What other people in India say in responce is like 'All people struggled for Independence, India tumhare baap ki jaagir nahi'

certainly, see science conference and all that interplanetary vimaan rubbish. In the name of seeing everything from scientific way, State can't afford to promote false claims. Thas was a threat to scientific temper.

BTW, which states were part of Punjab in 1947. I think Haryna was included in Punjab at the time of partition. Punjab got only 1.57% of total population in Punjab. Only 328,000. Khair, I don’t think that Pakistani Punjab got that number of Hindus.

Haryana and Himachal. Punjab - both sides pretty much got cleansed of the other. In comparison, West and East Bengal still has significant amount of muslims and hindus respectively, despite the hindu-muslim riots of partition having started in this province.

Himachal, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi. Some Muslims in Delhi stayed back, which might explain the comparitively higher numbers in Haryana.

The people who of present day Pakistan were not interested in Pakistan at all in the beginning. Muslim League was found in Bengal and then spread to UP, CP, Delhi and other parts. Muslim League lost badly in 1937 elections in Punjab and in Sindh, Balouchistan and NWFP , it was not so popular.
Perhaps Indian Muslims were thinking that by creating Pakistan, one day they would return to India and hoist their flags on Lal Qila! But they did not realize the world has changed - in democracy the majority has to rule and Hindus were in majority!

In India, for your information former President Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a Muslim, current Vice President Dr. Hamid Ansari is a Muslim and he is the only person to get re-elected after Dr. S. Radhakrishnan There have been Muslim Chief Ministers in Hindu majority states. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh belong to minority community. Important offices in Union and State govts have been held by Muslims.

We can study history books and see present day sisuation, some may find it foolish, some may find it wise. It doesn't matter now. I think we should not go into debates that yield no good result and are highly controversial.
