Re: Muslims skeptical over Newsweek apology
Uh say what? Who said I dont like America? I disagree with the governments policies but then so do most Americans. No idea where that above comment came from though.
And the above example is wrong. because Thandy and I have not gone off and done something because we disagree. We keep our opinions to opinions, we didnt take actions to degrade America - sounds so ridiculous as a comparison but what the heck.
Anyway it is not about a difference of opinion. It is about using stupid means to degrade the other person’s opinion because it is different. Perhaps you can stand by without any anger if the Bible was flushed down, but I wouldnt. I am still talking about the Bible yes. I would be offended and angry no matter what religious Book it was. The fact that this is about the Quran - well that hits home even more.
And at the end of the day it is not ‘just a book’. It is a Holy Book that billions of people hold close and it is Holy for them. So I think importance should be given even if you do not understand it.
Anyway I dont think it is about an issue of credibility. Its the media. We have to take it with a pinch of salt. Whether it is true or not - this question can be asked of any story that comes up in the news. And human lives have not been respected there, I can only say so much about a Holy Book.
I think anger is understandable in this case. What we do with that anger is what the real issue is all about.
