In what is perhaps their first openly defiant act against “Islamic terrorism”, Muslims in India have decided they will not allow the militants to be buried in Muslim graveyards anywhere in the country
Other Muslim groups have written to their local assembly representatives to say that if the authorities force the militants to be buried in a Muslim graveyard, they too will come out on the streets in protest.
A Muslim graveyard has refused to bury nine gunmen who terrorized Mumbai over three days last week, leaving at least 172 people dead and wreaking havoc at some of its most famous landmarks.
The men are not true followers of the Islamic faith, according to the influential Muslim Jama Masjid Trust, which runs the 7.5-acre (three-hectare) Badakabrastan graveyard in downtown Mumbai.People who committed this heinous crime cannot be called Muslim,’ said Hanif Nalkhande, a trustee. ‘Islam does not permit this sort of barbaric crime.’
Ten gunmen laid siege to India's financial capital starting Wednesday night, attacking 10 targets and digging in at three: a Jewish center and two luxury hotels. Indian commandoes eventually stormed those buildings. In all, one gunman was captured and the rest were killed.
The bodies of the nine gunmen now lie in a morgue awaiting last rites, while the lone surviving militant is in police custody.
Normally, unclaimed bodies thought to be Muslims are given to the nearest Muslim graveyard for burial after three days, leaving police unsure what to do now. Police don't believe anyone will claim the gunmen's corpses since they are thought to be from Pakistan
‘The gunmen must be buried because we are bound to see that their last rites are performed according to the religion they follow,’ said Jain Sirmukadam, a senior police inspector. ‘We have heard the trust's decision. We are considering what to do now.’
There are seven other Muslim graveyards in Mumbai, but the Jama Masjid's influence means none of the others are likely to accept the bodies.
While Nalkhande said several Islamic scholars had ked the trust's decision, some also criticized the move.
Even militants must be given a proper burial, said scholar Maulauna Zubair Ahmed.
As per the Shariah, the trust cannot say no,’ he said, referring to Islamic law. ‘The Shariah says whether a Iuslim is a drunkard, rapist, criminal, you must offer `im a place for burial.

i mean the muslim community is so fearful for its lives that they have to show this kind of face to the hindus if they want to survive, other wise rampaging hindu mobs will come and burn them alive like they did in gujrat in 2002

Yes RSS has been banned before and if there is linkage to any terrorist act they will be banned. There are a few "hindu" groups which have been banned previously. Action is being taken on that front. However right now we are talking about the attack on Mumbai and the " supposed" involvment of people "originatting" from Pakistan.
I think finally the political leadership in Pakistan is making the right kind of noises and saying that if anyone has operated from Pakistani soil he will be dealt with severly. That is a good sign and the political leadership needs to take control of things there .... otherwise the comments from the army will lead to a situation which is not in anyone's interest.
No problem even if muslims burry those bodies in their graveyard but the problem is again innocent muslim of india will b linked with those brutal acts carried by hindutva leaders....why should we suffer for that???
