I don’t see why you have to bring this “Hindu” thing into the picture. I don’t care what your Quran or my Bhagavad Gita says. My opinion is that of a rational , educated and logical human being.
If my sentiment gets hurt by a lady playing tennis in skirts (which, by the way, is not the same thing as “nangapan” you keep blabbing about), I will simply switch off the TV or flip the channel…instead of rising in arms against the lady.
Have the guts to question religion (be it Islam, Hinduism whatever)…dont just accept blindly what was written centuries ago…but I have a feeling you are one of those who would ogle at Kournikova (non-Muslim) but have problems with Sania (Muslim). Does it even make sense ? Use your own brain…for a change.

What puts you in a position to assume that he stares at Kournikova..? the truth is that you don’t, you have made a hollow assumption to support your point. Likewise, you also lack credence to tell others not to follow ‘what was written centuries ago’ without having the clear understanding of what you are talking about.
The message of Islam does not just encompass over centuries or a time period; in fact it’s the same since the creation of this universe and will remain till the day of judgement - a path of salvation for all mankind. The actions of a believer should revolve around the teachings and the scripture, and not the other way around. I hope this clarifies.

how long? it doesn’t seem to have gotten better by itself. I have an interest in this case because a fellow Indian is accomplishing something important and this idiot comes up with such meaningless fartwas. Why don’t you guys butout let Sania worry about what she wears?

I for one am glad muslims spend a lot of time working on such grave human issues as the right length of hem on the pants, whether the beard is 4 mm too long and whether lipstick has gelatin in it. Even after 1500 yrs there is no consensus on these important matters.
So what do you guys think? Any chance of ironing out these things by 2060? Maybe by then we can tackle other important issues like depleting innovation in the muslim world, the rapid population growth, the cross polination of religions and cultures and capital and people in an ever shrinking world and the increased competition for resources that 5 billion other people are preparing for. But let me guess, Raptue is impending...am I right? ;)

What you see on Gupshup are random people who even do not know what Islam is. Those who know always have an agreement. Everyone knows the dress code for muslim men and women; those who argue are simply the ignorant lot brainwashed by their non-muslim friends and environment. There are clear rulings on such issues and absolute guidelines about every day life.

Wow, the third thread on the same topic and we have hit 4 pages. Surely there are more dire problems in the world than the length of a tennis player's skirt!
It's her life, she can wear what she pleases. She doesn't go into tennis tournaments holding the banner of Islam and representing the Ummah. She has never proclaimed that she is the perfect role model for Muslims. Give her a break. The cleric got the attention he was looking for. Lets move on.
