I know many guppies will disagree with me here and many will say that every one is not same and stuff like that but the thing is I am disappointed to see asian british youth. And its not only with asian british its with generally all muslim youth brougth up in west. They are in the middle of no where. They try every thing possible for them to be part of this western culture and be accepted by them yet they wanna keep some of their original touch. It looks some what confused with their identity or what I dont know.

Very sad story altogether.

I am very general plz and do not intend to point some one in particular.

Mix and match. I think I achieve that to a good degree. I’m Asian, and yet well integrated and Westernized.

I dont see the issue.

It's freshies who I worry about, we act western because we are, it's natural for us, we're not wannabes, we don't need to put any effort into it because it comes to us naturally. Now freshies, I know not all but the vast majority are willing to give butt just to get a hold of the red passport and even in your own countries you leave no stone unturned to try and act like the "white man", just earlier on today I was watching a Pakistani satellite channel and they were showing a Texas style restaurant on Lahore’s food street with these butt ugly moustached blokes dressed as cowboys walking in, that really got on my tits, it was cheap, just cheap, no style.

Now we born in the west act western because it’s where we’re bred, born and raised, it’s whom we are. I'm not a fan of "desi" culture, I think it’s crap and it has no place in this country.

I know my religion, if there's anything good about Pakistani culture it's from Islam, other than that there's nothing about Pakistani culture which isn't found in any other culture. I follow my religion and abide by it's big rules, my religious culture is different from the vast majority of other Brits but my secular/national culture is the same as them because I'm British as well, I enjoy the same foods, I speak the same language (most of the time), I dress the same, grew up watching the same programs on telly, listen to the same kind of music, movies.

Everything has it's own place and if I were to live in Pakistan I would follow the local culture, speak their tongue and be a Pakistani but over here that's very irrelevant, only religion is multi-national.

I'm not confused, I'm perfectly comfortable being just a Muslim Brit and if ever later in life I settle down in Pakistan I'll be a Muslim Paki or if in Afghanistan I'll be a Muslim Afghan.

Born in the U.S., raised in the U.S., follow Islam. . and invent my own culture. I think i've got the best of both worlds. As much as the Western culture is criticized, it does have some good qualities. . . and so does the Eastern culture. No one culture is flawless so I see no problem in integrating what i believe is the best from the east and the best from the west.

i think that’s the best approach … pick and choose.. take the good parts from each.
