The media only wants to portray Muslims/Islam as the offender not the victim.
The media is not interested in the truth.
They don't want to show Muslims as victims, or humans with feelings like everyone else, their whole purpose is to dehumanise us.
It's the same story in the UK, the media is hell-bent on portraying Islam/Muslims as evil with nothing good to offer to society.
Everyday fascist newspapers like the Daily Express have an anti-Islamic headline and the masses lap up everything these newspapers say, the media does control the masses, the support for racist political parties such as the BNP (who believe British=White) is growing because the media is nicely brainwashing people for them.
How do they expect British Muslims to integrate, to belong, to be loyal and to be proud of this country in the face of all this Xenophobia? Like everyone else British Muslims want to belong and they're not being accepeted into mainstream British society so they look elsewhere for belonging and that sometimes leads them to their own dodgy terrorist pseudo-Islamic organisations... Hatred just breeds more hatred.
The rift between Muslims and non-Muslims everywhere is getting bigger and bigger, and neither side is doing enough to stop that.

Racism is pretty much unacceptable everywhere today but Islamophobia is fine.
Instead of getting all worked up about the situation I think Muslims need to westernise more (within the limits of Islam), co-operate with the police to root out illegal activity (terrorism, drugs etc.), get into the media etc. to change peoples perception of Islam/Muslims and to show them that we're only human too... Unless we do that, Muslims in the West (and the world over) face a bleak future, we'll be like the Jews in Nazi Germany or Chechnians/Bosnians under the Ruskies.
