SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A former stockroom worker for Abercrombie & Fitch Co. sued the clothing retailer in federal court Monday, saying she was illegally fired after refusing to remove her Muslim headscarf while on the job.

Well its a volunteer job. if you dont conform with the conditions then you should be ready to face the music. you cannot work in a strip club and refuse to remove your clothes.
being a professional i cannot expect my boss to accept me in my native costume. i knew the rules of business when i signed up the job.
if i have problems then i would quit the job and find a job in back store where they dont care.

Do you defend the right of a western to wear her modest dress in an arab country and drive car and carry her rights?
if yes then i am with you. if no then i am sorry i cannot have double standards.
in saudi arab people of other religions cannot even practice their own religion. if they are found praying to their gods then they get arrested and deported. for me that is a worse inhumane thing than a head scarf.

What they did in this case was illegal according to their country's laws. End of. It is the US that boasts of freedom and equality laws, not KSA.
What KSA do is perfectly legal according to their laws. Unfair but legal.

I am not just talking about saudi arabia which is a known hypocrite country, what i am saying applies to all those countries (Including India and USA) where basic god given freedom is hijacked by few dinosaurs.

Good for her! There is no excuse for being treated as a third rate citizen in your own country. They talk about freedom of speech when it suits their interest but where is the freedom to practice your religion.

Most of the people I see working in Abercrombie dress like skanks. I'm surprised they hired her in the first place but I agree with Hareem, they can't just change their policy and fire her when they were okay with the hijab at first.
As for the guy bringing up Saudi Arabia's example. Just because it's happening in Saudi Arabia doesn't mean we should be okay with getting our basic civil rights violated here in the West. I don't think well-informed, educated and practicing Muslims condone these violations no matter where they live.

Have you ever been in an A&F store? That place is like the poster for young, White, athletic kids. The company has been subject to numerous lawsuits from a wide range of minorities including Asians, Hispanics, and Blacks.
I proud to see the sister stepping up and calling out A&F discriminatory policies. She worked in the stockroom!
