Muslim Woman (Neelam Noorani) to take part in Int'l Pageants

You know what I think, as if anyone cares but here it goes: I think a group of scholars (philosophers, politicians, as well as clergymen) should have a summint in Pakistan either to declare it a secular state or should actually decide to abide by the name of "Islamic Republic of Pakistan." I mean look, the sexy Pakistani models like Vinny, Amina Haq and many more are doing and wearing all sorts of things to represent Pakistan and no one seems to really care to stop them therefore a beauty pageant would not make a radical difference or harm if not a recogition. On the contrary note, if Pakistan really would like to be called "the Islamic Republic", it is about time that it should. Either it is one way, or no way. The principles of the country at the present moment are a shame to the acutal purpose it was founded for and I think it would not be able to ride ahead with its present standards; west, east, and Islam together.

p.s, This girl is damn ugly..

Personally I have always thought that beauty contests were just plain wrong. It is like treating women like live stock at the county fair.
I am not of the Islamic faith, but I did grow up with the idea that a woman should dress modestly, and that only her husband is meant to see her in revealing clothing.
As to rights, I feel that when women put themselves on display they are losing rights not gaining them.

She should be stoned till death!

"Just kidding" WHO CARES!!! :D

....sab kay amaal apnay apnay!

I guess they really can't find another Pakistani Muslim girl to take part in a contest like this...Pakistani girls need more courage to do something like this and I'm surprised that she has gotten to this point....Secondly, she looks better than some other participants so let's see, well personally I don't think she'll win.

Well Said :k:

On one hand, I am totally okay with fashion shows and somewhat revealing dresses (ex. sleeveless), but there is still a limit.

I'm not saying we should all start wearing hijaabs and burqas, and fashion/beauty should definitely have its place in a woman's life if she desires to make a place for it...

However, parading a girl around in a swimsuit and then prizing her for her beauty (as if you're brain REALLY matters in these pageants) is demeaning. Its like saying "hey you're not valuable enough as a woman cuz you're not as good looking as that girl". And that is downright stupid.

And to pass off that kind of a beauty pageant as Islamically sound is even more stupid.

Haan, of course you can have beauty pageants, but I think inner beauty should be the criterion, not how big your boobs are and how cute is your upper thigh.

Im not hoping to watch someone regret their deeds...

Infact i wish i dont have to...would take a big burden off my chest.....

Any woman who turns to a beauty
contest to help her achieve whatever
she wants to in this world shows the
lack of confidence in herself to achieve
anything without luring others with
her looks. Such kind come a~dime~a~dozen
and the world can really do better and fend
for itself without any more flock of the
existing kind regenerating itself any further.
Any Muslim woman
[Muslim by birth, converted, reverted, or even
just in name] can not a find a way of fitting
into any civilized culture ("civilized" being the
main term) by walking the route of
self~exploitation and physique~revealtion.
And if she thinks world peace can be achieved
by catwalking her nude or semi~nude
body up and down an oggling runaway, she's well
on the path of complete self destruction.

I agree with LaDy iNtElleCT that
either Pakistan should be decalred an
Islamic state living up to its name and
censor and/or banish models like
Vaneeza, Amina Haq and likes; or declare
it a laic state and let whoever do whatever.
